Sounds like one more reason for calvin not to get a pool c bid if they lose tonight.

Nice easy trip to GR on a gorgeous Saturday to watch the Trine/Calvin twinbill.  Women with a 4th quarter comback to stymie the Knights.  Men with a game effort but lose to the Knights, mostly did in by a 16-0 run in the first half with the score tied at 20-20.  Just couldn't get all the way back.  I thought we'd make a game of it early in the second half, cut the lead to four, but in a blink of an eye Calvin had it back up to double digits again.  Difference between Calvin and the rest of the league is they have Jalen Overway and everyone else doesn't.  Was sitting by an older Calvin alum and we were talking about Jalen, he said he has lost close to 50 pounds between high school and college, wasn't this good in high school.  Well I was impressed with him in Angola and even more so in GR.  He has great offensive skills.  If he had 'hops' he'd for sure be a D1 type of guy, he could easily play for a mid major right now.  Bult with a good game too, he was the 'x' factor yesterday.  Trine with just too many empty trips.  I get frustrated with them running clock most every possession as they pass up some easier shots early in the possession to take tougher shots with the clock winding down.  Megnanglo was gimpy yesterday, you can tell he is not 100% with his knee issues.  Cox played fairly well, Jones not so much.  Egekeze locked him down.  On the flip side I thought Preston was great on defense against Egekeze.

Trine, unfortunately, will have to win the tournament to get into the Dance.  A win yesterday would have helped their resume a lot.  Even with an awesome season it just won't be enough.  But if you would have told me at the beginning of the year they'd be 20-3 with a week left to the season I'd thought no way after losing Bowman, Williams, Geller and Warzecha from last year.  Proud of the boys, they work extremely hard and are such a tight knit group.  It's been fun watching them this year.

VNA is a beautiful facility.  The rock climbing wall was pretty cool.  The arena itself felt very 'cavernous', even with an announced crowd of 2000 it felt empty.  Pep band was good, even with just a few members they had great sound...and played IN TUNE (Trine pep band, please tune up before playing please!)  ::)  I notice these things being a musician myself.

Actually it was a 21-0 run since the Knights were down 15-10 before a 5-0 run tied it at 15

You can't guard him!!  Clap.Clap.  Clap-Clap-Clap.

Derrick DeVries with 37 points, 16 boards and 5 assists in 30 minutes of PT.  Calvin wins 87-76 over Alma.

And he gets every whistle.

Good, aggressive players are usually the ones that get deserved whistles.

I agree, an Alma fan disagreed.
He fouled out, so he doesn't get every whistle.  ;D

I know, that's what I found so humorous

What a fun game to watch between Calvin and Alma today.  While Calvin had the lead most of the game and were favored to win, I was nervous until the last minute or two.  Alma played with a lot of intensity and did there best at tiring the Knights out.
Lots of great games today.  It's fun to watch this league this year, so many teams are getting better as their season goes on.
After starting down 6 early, Calvin went on at least a 26-4 run. It was impressive to watch.

Is Greg Mitchell on the hot seat?

I wouldn't think so. They lack leadership on the floor. He probably left on December

Wow!  What a game at DeVos today.  It doesn't get much better than Calvin giving hope a beat down.  What a beautiful day for a butt kicking.  Great job by the Knight's seniors today.

Was a great second half.  (Get ready for the negative karma attack for your glee.  😁)

OMG!  Perez is at Van Noord.
Can he, assuming he of course, hit a free throw?
