Any thoughts on why Thomas More started Etscheid?  He's thrown relief in the last two regional games.

Very thin on arms at this point? Maybe rolling the dice to see if they can win and bring back their #1 tomorrow.
Baseball is not a game that builds character, it is a game that reveals it.

I was thinking the same thing...he's thrown 3 days in a row now.  Hopefully Carthage continues to get to him.

Regardless of the winner in the current game, if IWU wins later tonight and you have 3 teams with 1 loss, what will the schedule be for tomorrow? Who essentially would get a bye to the championship game?

The winner of that game would move to game #11 which is the Championship game.  The winner of game 8 (Carthage v Thomas More) would play the loser of game 9, which under your scenario would be Buena Vista.

BV by virtue of being the last unbeaten.

From the manual:

If five teams remain after Game 6, the following procedure will be observed:
Game 7—Loser Game 5 vs. Loser Game 6
Game 8—Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5   (Carthage v Thomas More)
Game 9—Winner Game 6 vs. Winner Game 7   (IWU v BV)
If two teams remain after Game 9, the following procedure will be observed:
Game 10—Winner Game 8 vs. Winner Game 9
Game 11—If necessary, same teams as in Game 10
If three teams remain after Game 9, the following procedure will be observed:
Game 10—Winner Game 8 vs. Loser Game 9
Game 11—Winner Game 9 vs. Winner Game 10

Carthage moves on to the final day of the regional with a 10-4  win over Thomas More.

Rohe went 8, giving up 10 hits, 3 ER, and striking out 9
Hodges and Soderlund both went 4-5.  Hodges had 3 RBIs.

Two wins to get to Appleton for the 3 teams remaining in the region.

Very surprised to see Martel go with Kerber to start this game.

Freshman with only 4 appearances and 10 innings is not normally his style.

Mr. Ypsi

Kerber looks up to it so far.  He gave up two singles in the first, but no runs; he went 1,2,3 in the 2nd.

Going to the bottom of the 2nd, still scoreless.

Mr. Ypsi

Titans draw first blood, lead 1-0 at the end of two. :)

Mr. Ypsi

Titans scored again in the third, but BV got 4 in the 4th (knocking out both Kerber and Hayn - Frueh is now pitching).  BV up 4-2 after 4.

Mr. Ypsi

It's looking grim in B'town. :(  Frueh got roughed up in the 6th (Kopp now pitching).  BV up 6-2 at the end of 6.  Titans still have only 4 hits - bad time for the bats to go cold.
