When Matt first came to NCC, I remember hearing something about;
1. There was a year since HS that he didn’t go to school.
2. He did attend JUCO for 2 yrs but only played for one.
3. He might have more eligibility remaining than it appeared, and the question was going to be determined by the proper NCAA authorities.
Nobody really knew details, and over time the questions just kind of faded away.

At the conclusion of last season, I was told by more than one person that should know that he’d be playing this year.
I think it’s a safe bet that he won’t be playing if doing so is in violation of any rules and hadn’t been fully checked out and approved. That just isn’t something that’s going to happen.
He IS playing with the guys in open gym, and I highly doubt he’d be doing so if he wasn’t going to be playing this year.

He is absolutely playing this year and well within the NCAA regulations.  Slow days on these boards apparently.  ::)

No specifics yet, but look for North Central to be newly attired this season.
One thing that seems likely is that even though the shade of the Cards road unis for the last umteen years hasn’t exactly been what can be considered Cardinal red, any new road outfits will most likely continue to be the same shade of “red” we’ve grow accustomed to.
Something possible is the introduction of a third alternative color uniform. As with any expenditure relative to D3 athletics, cost on top of two other sets of new uniforms will be the primary deciding factor.

Can’t stand the maroon uniforms!  I was hoping that would be flushed with a new coach.

Interestingly for Washington University, they will not play UChicago this year for the first time in forever, if my memory serves me.  The Bears have played Chicago more than any other school (save for Missouri S&T, Rhodes, Wabash and maybe a few others) and it is quite the rival.

How is Hendrix?

North Central opens the season ranked #2 by D3Football.com
Wheaton is #8

I think NCC should be top 5 for sure. Wheaton is way too high at this point given what they lose vs what is coming back. I don't think the Thunder is Top 25 at this point, certainly not top10. They may get there depending on who is in the pipeline but they have a long way to go.

In the CCIW I think Wheaton will start the season closer to the 3rd/4th place teams than what should be the consensus #1 in NCC.

Oh no, am I really going to have to defend Wheaton against you?  I still see Wheaton as a clear #2 this year until someone steps up and beats them. Weeks is fantastic and will have to take the load off of whoever lines up at QB. Of course, that means actually running the football!  ;)  Offensive Line will need to plug a couple of positions but I believe it is still more than anyone else in the conference has. I believe Augie thinks they will be considerably better and when doesn't Norm feel like he's in the running?  Wash U? They'll be in the top 4 somewhere. Millikin is always a mystery to me but they have some quality kids down there.

NCC with a huge pickup via transfer. Ty Konrad, high school All American at Naperville North, has transferred from Ohio State.

Cardinals grab an NCAA at Large bid and will open up vs Coe at Stevens Point.  Augustana draws Aurora at Whitewater.

Not sure what the delay is with regards to the announcement of the new North Central Head Coach. It must take longer nowadays to get a background check done then it used to. At this point everyone knows what is happening as the secret is out of the bag and spilling across the table. Actually, there was never much more than a very little degree of doubt as to what the ultimate outcome would be.

Unfortunately, should the choice be who is widely expected at this point, the manner in which the decision was made, and by whom, will at least somewhat cloud the fact that North Central is going to get a good man, and a good coach.

At this point, all I want is the end of the hideous maroon uniforms!

The new coach will be overjoyed that a donor has already stepped up to purchase a new set of road uniforms for the team. $$$$  ;D

If that’s what it takes, sign me up!

Anyone hear if our guy’s phone rang yet? Not seeing anything on the Twitter. Gotta figure someone will invite him out.

Houston Texans for Andrew Kamienski.

Is that a minicamp invite or training camp contract?

Minicamp invite is what I heard.  Might as well go to one of the worst teams in the league for a tryout!

Getting into a flamewar with North Central fans about banners would fall under the category of "poking the bear."

The fact that the vast majority of the national hardware NCC has earned is the direct or indirect handiwork of one man (and I have no problem whatsoever with stating that Al Carius is, bar none, the greatest coach in CCIW history regardless of sport, especially since Al's also one of the nicest gentlemen this conference has ever had), and that, unlike men's basketball, the running sports are non-spectator competitions that don't draw a lot of attention under normal circumstances, really doesn't deflect much from NCC's accomplishments, no matter how much the rest of us might wish otherwise. The bottom line is that North Central had Al Carius, and the rest of our schools didn't, and that's that.

Still, if you've gotta settle for a mere five national championships, you could do worse than to have them all be men's basketball national championships. Dunno about you specifically, Steve, but I'm sure that there's a lot of Augie alumni who are quite happy that Augustana's four national titles were, likewise, all won in one of the two high-profile sports.

I see Al a couple of mornings each week waiting on his guys to return from the morning run.  He’s never too busy to stop and say hello.  Best coach and amazing person!  Anytime he speaks, there’s always a takeaway!

With today’s 3-2 victory over Elmhurst, NCC wins their 7th straight CCIW Title and have earned home field advantage for the CCIW tournament!  Go Cards!

I don't want to make a big deal about this but I knew the names 24 hours BEFORE the previous post said he knew them.

Deepthroat,
Congrats on having the names 24 hours before itsnotmeitsyou said he had them. I’m sending you a + 1 for that.  :)
However, I’m glad you don’t want to make a big deal out of it, because the names were first known back on April 18th!
Give me a couple minutes please, and I’ll explain.

Again, I don't want to make a big deal, but I actually knew them on April 17th. So.....

I don't want to make a big deal of it, but I knew the names three weeks before James Naismith invented basketball. ;D

I thought TitanQ invented basketball?  :o ;D

Not much chatter in here on baseball...Cardinals are on a roll having won 11 straight and stay undefeated in CCIW play.  The Cards moved up one spot to #8 in the D3Baseball.com top 25.
