Isn't there a cliche about defenses being ready before offenses?  Didn't seem that way for opening day 2016.  I don't know what I will do if I can't depend on my cliches

Hopefully we can all still count on teams making their greatest improvement between Week 1 and Week 2. :)

The problem is, their opponent improved that week too, so how can you tell?  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You can tell because even in defeat they gave 110% while still managing to stay within themselves.

Sports clichés?  I don't believe in them, but I tell you what, my team just takes it one game at a time!
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

Here's where my model sees the conference race going forward after one week of action. We learned some new things about everyone except Wartburg, and none of the results were particularly shocking so as to affect these projections too much. My model actually thought Central should have won by more at Whitworth, so their rating went down (ever slightly), and Dubuque's rating went up a bit. Overall though it's still probably a toss-up at this point trying to pick a conference champion out of Wartburg, Dubuque, Central, and Coe. Wartburg and Central are the two teams who could improve their ratings the most this week, with both Monmouth and Augustana being Top 25 teams in my most recent ratings. Once the conference schedule starts, these probabilities will change much more from week-to-week.

Team   Proj. W-L   Prev.   Pool A Prob.   Prev.
Wartburg   5.910-2.090   5.960-2.040   32.14%   34.27%
Dubuque   5.840-2.160   5.225-2.775   26.69%   16.94%
Central   5.415-2.585   5.610-2.390   18.03%   22.96%
Coe   5.240-2.760   4.975-3.025   15.90%   13.82%
Simpson   3.585-4.415   4.020-3.980   3.47%   6.56%
Loras   3.390-4.610   3.260-4.740   2.28%   2.91%
Luther   2.660-5.340   2.970-5.030   0.67%   1.51%
Buena Vista   2.445-5.555   2.445-5.555   0.75%   0.97%
Nebraska Wesleyan   1.510-6.490   1.535-6.465   0.07%   0.06%

The transfer of two Central Dutch players to become Dubuque Spartans will probably increase the GPA of both teams.

Only at U of Dubuque would 13 be more than 23 (2014-2015)  ::)

My mind has gone into brain freeze.  Can anyone tell me the name(s) of the groups who rate/rank d3 teams on a weekly basis.  They take into consideration offensive and defensive strengths and weaknesses ... special teams play, etc.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

I need to get Walston-Hoover and dutchfan1 back on the board to help me out.  I'm getting too old to make speedy retorts.
