NJAC:  A Kean win and a Ramapo loss

United East:  A PSU-Berks win over Bryn Athyn:

#1
Region iV in-Poll team to currently watch:  NYU.

Also, a couple of early kudos to 2 NJAC squads:  Rowan (which didn't play last spring,) is off to a 7-3 start, and NJCU and their new coach, is off to a 5-0 start, (reportedly the best in the history of that program.)

Gothic Knights get Ramapo tomorrow in NJAC action, so we'll see if NJCU's strong start continues.

First win for NYU over Emory since December, 2003 in women's college volleyball.  In 2003, NYU Women's Volleyball went 6-1 in UAA Round Robin play, losing to Wash U 3 times that season-- UAA Round Robin, UAA Championship Game, and the NCAA DIII National Championship game.  However, NYU did defeat Emory three times that season as well, winning a 5 setter over Emory 3-2 in UAA Round Robin play at Wash U, a 4 setter, 3-1, over Emory in group play at the UAA Championship Tournament at Coles Center (NYU), and a 5 setter in the National semifinals at La Verne.   Since 2003, Emory had won the previous 20 matches over NYU and had been undefeated vs NYU from December 7, 2003 until today (October 3, 2021).  Even sweeter, Brandeis hosted the match as part of UAA Volleyball Round Robin 2 weekend.

NYU improves to 5-0 in the UAA and seems poised to get the #1 seed in the UAA Volleyball Championship Tournament in Cleveland next month.  NYU plays Carnegie Mellon and CWRU in 2 weeks in UAA Round Robin weekend #3 in Atlanta.  It would be a complete surprise now if NYU is not in the NCAAs this season no matter what happens the rest of the way.

(Update-- Post modified to reflect the 2003 season results, which NYU did not input into their team history records vs Emory.  NYU Women's Volleyball history was showing a gap between 2001 and 2005 in which results vs Emory were not recorded into their system, giving an impression that NYU had gone 0-21 vs Emory from 2001 until October 7, 2021.  In reality, NYU now has at least 4 wins vs Emory since 2001- the 3 wins in 2003 and the win on Oct. 7, 2021).

none of these teams are in the CUNYAC. This is the Skyline Conference, who's not in this region.

Region IV In-Conference Squads doing better than expected to this point:

CUNYAC:  Brooklyn (still has to play John Jay-who is right behind them, and CCNY yet-) Medgar Evers has cancelled most of its' matches.

MAC-Freedom:  King's (Arcadia, Lycoming and Misericordia still ahead for this squad.)

United East:  Still too early to tell

NJAC:  Rowan, Rutgers-Camden:  (Profs have Rutgers-Camden, Ramapo and Kean yet; Rutgers-Camden gets Kean and Rutgers-Newark after Rowan, so both my "better than expected" squads should be in good shape, (at least on paper.)

NYU:  Barring a total collapse the rest of the way, NYU also is in good shape.
