Look who is finally using Twitter!

Cody McKinney is indeed the grandson of Coach McKinney and he will indeed play in the house that Lee McKinney built.  Very cool.

In terms of the recruiting class, Malachy Simpson may be almost as big of a story.  10 points and 7 rebounds per game on a Jay Blossom coached Webster Groves team.

So it's been on my mind for awhile... I really think Fontbonne is getting some great talent, but injuries have  impacted them... if they can stay healthy, they should win... period.... if they don't win, well, a change needs to be made... changes don't happen often in the SLIAC, and it may not happen in this situation, but a lineup featuring 8 or 9 GOOD players should not be a sub 500 team....time will tell....Creal, Bunch, Mitchell, Gray, Barber, Wilde have earned their longevity, and even relatively newbies Zimmerman and Huisman have had teams that achieved beyond expectations, but we are still waiting on Coach Thornhill.... this needs to be the year...

it isn't basketball, but congrats to ec softball for winning the sliac tournament and advancing to the ncaa tournament.  not ONE senior on this squad, either.

that's football, men's basketball, and softball all making the ncaa postseason.  what an amazing year for ec athletics.

^^^ Not basketball, but worth mentioning for SLIAC fans that SLIAC runners swept the podium in the 200 meter dash at the D3 track and field championships: https://mobile.twitter.com/SLIAC/status/1132404417125322753 1-Prin, 2-Webster, 3-Greenville (Davis). Per this article, the first place finisher was DQ'd, moving the SLIC runners from 2,3,4 to 1,2,3: https://websterathletics.com/news/2019/5/25/mens-track-field-ridenhour-finishes-as-national-runner-up-in-200-meters-earns-all-american-honors.aspx?fbclid=IwAR3oYR2snlhe4MrYOg_0k-B2AkM6bUi3bN8iPvOVjkvl7uo7I4S8YxE7nJM

Also, Webster is going to the baseball world series: https://websterathletics.com/news/2019/5/25/baseball-records-season-high-22-hits-in-defeating-top-ranked-concordia-chicago-to-advance-to-division-iii-world-series.aspx?fbclid=IwAR2mHylrixTUfcZsPOOODO3EhK1_7qc2YXptUh2_q22uaihg9nWlGev-NZQ

This point is hardly interesting enough to mention, but last year Illinois College played Webster and Washington University just a few days apart in opposite cities. They play both teams again next season but reverse the locations and play just two days apart.

I see Manchester and Hanover are coming in for the Webster Classic... wonder who the 4th team will be?    In the past, Westminster or Mac have filled that slot.... wishing Greenville or Fontbonne would get in for a better atmosphere....
Hanover is usually very good, Manchester sub .500, but the level of play will probably put Manchester as competitive with or better than the SLIAC..

I mentioned a while back that most of the SLIAC men's coaches feel comfortable in their positions.... Coach Kollar leaving Blackburn was the first change in  the SLIAC coaching lineup in 4 years... I believe that 6 of the coaches have been with their programs for 10 years or more, 2 others have 4 years of experience at their SLIAC school..Prin's Todd Zimmerman has 3 years...

So I was curious.... what have you done for me lately?   I'm going to discuss each program's performance (and rate them 1 -10) over the last 5 years..will look at overall record, conference record, conference tourney record, and players making All Conference (after all, recruiting potential All Conference players is a part of the job.)  And in my mind, the team's performance is a pretty good indication of how the coach is doing...

Bottom to top... be on the lookout for writeup on number 10 in the next day or two.....
