Bluffton is merging with University of Findlay. The plan is for the two schools to continue to operate separate athletics departments (pending NCAA approval). Bluffton at the D3 level and Findlay at the D2 level.

So, Holland beats #6 Calvin and #1 Trine in the MIAA tournament, loses to #11 Case Western in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament, and drops three spots? I'd like to see Holland O'fer for a season, and I think that's ridiculous.

The MIAA Tournament games were reflected in the previous poll.

The rumor I heard this weekend was that Megnanglo would be coming back to Trine.

Incredible atmosphere at the arena. Trine fans really showed out. Big win for the Thunder in their first NCAA Tournament! Wow!

Quote from: Flying Dutch Fan on March 11, 2024, 11:23:36 AMI was going to watch the archived Calvin v Trinity game, but it is PPV and we all know Dutchmen are, well cheap.  I was curious to see how they defended Calvin and in particular Jalen Overway.  Did he indeed get injured?

Yes, he went down with a leg injury about midway through the 2nd half. He was getting taped up and looked (from the live video feed) like he was trying to come back in the game, but he wasn't able to overcome the injury.

Trinity did a good job being physical with him and harassing him with the ball. Nothing revolutionary, but they did very well and made it a tough night for him.

Incredible end of game sequence for Trine, must have been a thrilling victory to see in-person! I had to go back on Sunday and watch the final few minutes of the video to see how everything played out.

I will be down in Ft. Wayne for the Final Four games, it would be great to see Trine represent the MIAA well! Trinity is no joke!

To add another wrinkle, Wisconsin Lutheran was above Anderson in the final Region 8 rankings, they were shipped off to host Wash U. They should be playing Calvin at JCU. Anderson should be playing Wash U.

Quote from: pointlem on February 26, 2024, 02:26:48 PMLooks like a great draw for Trine, including home court . . . and a tough draw for Calvin--facing a resurgent Elmhurst for the right to challenge a championship-contender on its home floor.

At first glance, it sure feels like Hope got a slightly better draw than Calvin (Anderson and CWRU will both still be tough) Indicative that they finished ahead of Calvin in the final regional rankings?

Seeding should follow the regional rankings. We saw this evening that Calvin finished ahead of Hope and Elmhurst finished ahead of Anderson in their respective regional rankings. This is a seeding miss by the committee in my opinion.

Has MIAA ever gotten three teams into the tournament, or will this be the first time?

Quote from: HOPEful on February 23, 2024, 08:11:09 AMClark and Albertus Magnus lost yesterday in upsets. I believe the losses should move Hope ahead of both teams. Shy of a slew of bid stealers, it's feeling more and more likely that if Hope can beat Calvin again tonight, they'll slide to the better side of the bubble. A loss and they're out.

A win for Hope tonight would certainly put them ahead of these teams and make them look bubble-in to me, pending potential upsets around the country.

A win for Calvin would keep hosting possibilities alive.
