Top two girls from a high school in Illinois (Glenbard East) plan on enrolling at UW-Whitewater to play volleyball.

That pipeline from the Chicago suburbs to Whitewater continue to grows.

In its first SCIAC match, Chapman University knocked off  #23 Occidental College in a tightly contested contest by a score of 3-2. Both teams should be factors in the conference this year. OXY is now 7-2 (0-1) and CU is 7-2 (1-0).

CONGRADULATIONS to the Caltech volleyball team for defeating Mills College for their first win of the season.
Caltech travels to Chapman for a match tonight. Chapman defeated UCSC in an important in-region win earlier today.

California Lutheran (13-1, 22-4) travels to Chapman (13-1, 21-4) for a rematch (first game won by Chapman) that will put
the winner in the driver's seat for the regular SCIAC season championship and #1 seed and host for the conference tourney.
The winner of the tourney would receive the NCAA auto-bid.

Cal Lu closes its season on Saturday against Caltech (0-14, 1-18) while Chapman closes its season on Saturday at Pomona-
Pitzer (4-10, 9-13).

Friday's game should be very interesting.

Should Chapman's Panthers win the title, it will become the first Chapman team to win a conference title, since Chapman became eligble for such a title this year.

#17 Puget Sound/Linfield up shortly:

Puget Sound over Linfield

Trinity (TX) defeats Southwestern 25-23, 25-20, 25-20 to win the SCAC.    The Pirates came in with a 12 match winning streak.
Mary Hardin-Baylor defeats UT-Dallas 25-23, 26-24, 23-25, 25-20 to win the ASC.

The question is whether either UT-D (22-11) or SW (26-8) will warrant a pool C bid.     Southwestern was ranked sixth in last week's regional rankings, but I doubt they'll get a bid now.   If not UHMB and Trinity may match up in the first round with the Lady Cru (25-5) already having a 3-1 win over Trinity early in the season to their credit.

Ron Boerger

Neither SW or UT-D got a bid, but somewhat surprisingly Colorado College  (not ranked last week, 1-2 since [1-1 D3] including a five-set loss to SW) did.  CC was 0-3 against SW this season but defeated Trinity once; SW was 0-3 against Trinity.   I imagine CC's SOS was better.    All three SCAC/ASC schools are off the the regional at Cal Lu.

Both SCAC schools get Round 1 wins:

Colorado College over #20 PLU,  25-18, 27-25, 25-23, 25-19.
Trinity (TX) over (RV) La Verne, 25-20, 25-20, 25-15.

CC gets #17 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps next; Trinity, most likely #3 Cal Lutheran.
