Greg Nixon, HPU, is the ASC Male track athlete of the week for his 2nd place finish in the Texas Southern Relays 100M dash for a 10.55 sec performance.

Benedictine is basically in my back yard!  I like it where it is  ;D

Exactly, right where a majority of D III people study and settle down, the Midwest.

May I quote out of sequence?

Would anyone else like to see the NCAA D3 meet move a few hundred miles south?  To Tennessee or the Carolinas?

Chicagoland is great, but the weather is too unpredictable.

Poor weather or not, I cannot imagine the D III T&F Championships not being in the Midwest a majority of the time–as long as there is a Midwest bidder it will stay there.  It costs way too much for the NCAA to fly everyone out to one of the coasts year-after-year.

But that’s just an opinion.

And it is very easy to fly into Chicago!

Dan [Austin (Williams)] opened with a 178 while Meckes (Calvin) is over 180 in both his meets.  The men's discus should be the top D3 event this spring.

Agreed.  What other sport/event has two of the top-10 American born collegiate athletes in D3?
The numbers:

Top collegiate discus throwers, 2006 men:

- 2005 performances
01.) 64.69m/212-03 . . . Vikas Gowda* (North Carolina D1)
02.) 61.70m/202-05 . . . Michael Robertson (Stanford D1)
03.) 61.59m/202-00 . . . Daniel Vanek (Central Arizona NJCAA)
04.) 61.06m/200-04 . . . Adam Kuehl (Arizona D1)
05.) 60.87m/199-08 . . . Sam Segond (Rutgers D1)
06.) 60.77m/199-04 . . . Garrett Johnson (Florida State D1)
07.) 60.54m/198-07 . . . Edis Elkasevic* (Auburn D1)
08.) 60.33m/197-11 . . . Niklas Arrhenius* (BYU D1)
09.) 59.76m/196-01 . . . Dan Austin (Williams D3)
10.) 59.38m/194-10 . . . Nate Meckes (Calvin D3)
11.) 58.52m/192-00 . . . Ryan Ketchum (Indiana D1)

I've finally found my true passion and as a fomer 440/400 sprinter, I can now continue to post Lincoln's T&F accomplishments.  The Lions finished second (again) to UW-Lax in the Men's indoor NCAA's.

Last year Lincoln came from behind to overtake Wisconsin Lax on the final day to win the DIII men's outdoor NCAA's.  Good luck to the Lions during the 2006 otdoor campaign.

... a former 440/400 sprinter, ...

You're definitely old school with the 440 yards ... nice.

Were you a contemporary of the Horse of NCAA D3, Clive Terrelonge?

Lynchburg College will be able to host outdoor track events next year because the shcool is renovating shellenberger field (the field in the middle of the track) and the track. the track will be extended from 6 lanes to 8 lanes.

What about child boards for each conference, for smaller news, along with a national board?

I'd like to write about the MIAA but I do not think may others do.  Do you care if Albion beats Calvin in a dual meet this spring?  I doubt it, but Albion and Calvin sure do.

One thought on child boards is that we would have so many child boards that it would clutter everything.  If we look at baseball so far, there is only reasonable traffic on about half of the nearly 40 boards.

Go ahead and post your news here.  If there are AQ or PQ performances involved, then most track fans have an interest in that. :)
