Lamker takes over the Auggie program.  I think this will help the program.  College is a different game, but he had success at Osseo and Edina.  He's an offensive guy so if he can bring in a solid DC they might build up respect.
It is a definite upgrade for Augsburg. Lamker is highly regarded in the HS coaching circles, which will be a boost for recruiting, and they guy knows how to win and build a winning program (see his success at Osseo in particular). I heard it took 8-10 interviews to seal the deal. IDK if that's common, but it seems on the high end to me.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Now that we've established the Johnnies returning skill players have junior high level back talent up I hope the team considers taking a year off for the safety and well being of the players. In doing so that leaves UST and Bethel with a nice path to the top of the conference. And one must assume they have an embarrassment of riches returning?

UST:
Dolan returns having produced 82%, 87% and 90% of attempts, completions and TDs

With the loss of Parks and Wagner they graduate 49% of rushing attempts, 50% of yards and 47% of TDs
Those % feel low when you consider one of them was the conference player of the year. In terms of returning players Loeffler, Rice and Komis accounted for 27% of attempts, 31% of rushing yards and 27% of rushing TDs.

With the loss of Green, Pallini, Slavik, Parks, Wagner and Toonen the Tommies lose 78% of receptions, 82% of receiving yards, and 81% receiving of TDs.

Bethel
Roste returns having accounted for 91% of yards and 94% of TDs

They return most of their rushing leaders. Gibas, Boros and Delich were all underclassmen and produced 46% of attempts, 52% of net yards and 43% of TDs. If you add in Roste from the QB position the attempts and yards jump to nearly 75% and to 63% for TDs.

The same cannot be said for receiving. Seniors Larsen, Carlson, Pytlak and Friedlein accounted for 62% of catches, 67% of yards and 75% of TDs. On his own Larsen was over 30% of catches and yards and 63% of receiving TDs.

The run game is Bethel's strength but they'll need to find some receivers to create some balance. And UST has a lot of skill spots to fill. And without looking at specific numbers GAC loses a lot too.

I think I like what the Jays have coming back now even more.

Outside of WR, Bethel was crazy young this year. A lot of frosh and Soph contributions, especially in the second half on the season. The Oline is a good example.

Don't be fooled by the loss of Parks, Loeffler is very close to being of the same caliber. Much like the Alvord vs. Erdmann thing, Loeffler was just there at the wrong time. I expect Loeffler to be the top RB in the conference next year. As for QB, Dolan got way better as the season went on and with Erdmann and Veldman graduating, I expect Dolan to be amongst the top 2-3 QB's in the conference. The receiving corps were just ok and should be at a minimum comparably replaced if not better. What will be interesting is what type of talent they attract both transfers and freshmen with the lure of Division 1 the following year.

Will it tarnish Glenn's reputation when U$T places third again for their last year in the MIAC?

Last time I looked UST finished 1st.  :P

Based on MIAC standings UST tied for 1st this year Duff. ;D See SJ2 2006 co-title claim with Bethel for reference.

Dolan will be competing for the job. The job came his way because of an injury late in camp with Frankl. You are right on Loeffler. He is a player. The majority of the Offensive line returns. Need to fill the WR spots with playmakers. That has lacked the last couple years in comparison to other Top 10 programs. The defense loses quite a bit. Talent exchange along the DL and at LB has never been an issue. I don't foresee it being one next year. The secondary needs a big upgrade. There were some mid-season position changes with young guys stepping up that looked promising. The secondary will also look MUCH better with no Erdmann and Veldman around anymore.

As noted, it will be interesting to see what the talent level coming in looks like. I know UST has been pushing the envelope on recruiting a numer of low level D1, high D2 kids that were very interested

I never said anything about this year.  I said finish third again.  They finished third in 2018, so finishing third in 2020 definitely qualifies as third again.

Lamker seems like a great hire. But I'm also a complete sucker for the great player returns as coach narrative, in all sports. It doesn't always work out of course but it's cool when it does, especially if it's someone lifting a program from the depths, which Augsburg kind of needs now.

I believe I read Veldman is returning for GAC.  He had a redshirt year at NDSU.

Hmm. Could 2020 be the year of the Gustie.

Lamker is a high energy charismatic individual who has worked and been successful with kids at two vastly different high schools in Osseo and Edina.  Not sure how that will parlay into the college world, but he does seem to connect with kids which could help with recruiting.  Would be nice to see him bring more success at Augsburg to strengthen the overall conference.

Holding out hope that Erdmann's name will be called a second time as the Gagliardi Trophy winner! I suppose it hurts that Rutter has also had a great season & his team is playing for it all.

No way!  I swear he's been there 6 years already.

His run at Osseo was extremely successful. I don't know that I would say the same about the stint with the cake-eaters though. No major team successes, while he had some really skilled individuals coming out of Edina the last few years. I think it's a BIG upgrade over Haege. He'll find some success over time at Auggie. He's played and coached their during times they were a bit more successful than they have been the last 10-15 years.
