Division III Bowling

Bowling is near and dear to my heart so I thought I'd get a thread going on it. Going to try to make a list of all D3 schools that have bowling because there is only a single division for the sport.

I find it strange that women's bowling is NCAA sponsored (since 2004) but men's isn't when there's just as many if not more men's teams.

That's not alot, but bowling would be a relatively inexpensive sport to add for a school looking to add a sport without breaking the budget.

The reason why it's a recognized sport for women is that it takes fewer schools sponsoring a sport for there to be a women's championship.

Equestrian, rugby and sand volleyball are emerging sports. Interesting.

If you get enough of these obscure sports, you will even get Reed College to be part of D3.

2 teams are ranked in the latest coaches poll... UW-Whitewater are up to #9 and New Jersey City are #17

It's six weeks till the championships and UW-Whitewater has climbed up to #6 in the rankings. New Jersey City is still in the rankings at #17 but unlikely to compete for the title.

Congrats to the Whitewater ladies for winning their sectional and advancing to the Intercollegiate Team Championships April 17-20th. Hopefully they'll get plenty of practice by making it to the NCAA Championships April 11-13th as well.

The selection show will take place on ncaa.com at 4pm Wednesday. Hopefully UWW will be among the 8 schools selected.
