Congrats to the Warhawks as they have been selected to bowl at the 2013 NCAA Women’s Bowling Championships. The field of 8 includes traditional heavyweights such as Nebraska, Maryland-Eastern Shore, and Fairleigh Dickinson. The event kicks off April 11th in Detroit.

Fun fact... the first ever national title by any team from Vanderbilt was in Women's Bowling back in 2007

Got the morning session of the tournament on as I post 

UW-Whitewater is paired with Maryland-Eastern Shore in the first session:

I know its' early, but. . . . Whitewater got a higher overall pin total than Maryland Eastern Shore in pool play.

(Warhawks currently up against Sam Houston State as I modify.

After the first session of the round robin, Whitewater is in a 4 way tie for 1st with a 3-1 record but they have the lowest average of the 8 teams at the moment. The remaining three matches are this evening then the teams will be seeded for a double elimination tournament tomorrow.
They edged Maryland Eastern Shore 1005-983, then were crushed by Sam Houston St 1002-831, bounced back to squeak past Central Missouri 999-997, then beat Vanderbilt 953-914. They still have to face Nebraska, Fairleigh Dickinson (both of whom are also 3-1) and Arkansas St (2-2)

Second session:

They beat Nebraska 1011-975, lost to Arkansas State 948-859, lost to Farleigh Dickinson 945-906.

Standings:  Nebraska, Faileigh Dickinson and Sam Houston State are all 5-2, UW-Whitewater and Maryland Eastern Shore are 4-3, Arkansas State 3-4, Vanderbilt 2-5, Central Missouri 0-7.

Warhawks are 2nd to last in total pinfall and average, (ahead of Sam Houston State in both categories).

UWW finished qualifying tied for 4th at 4-3 with two time defending champions Maryland Eastern Shore who they will face in their first match tomorrow in the 4-5 match. Play gets underway in the double elimination tournament just before noon tomorrow with each match being a best-of-7 Baker games.

Whitewater got out to a 2-1 lead on Maryland Eastern Shore but lost the next three to lose the match. In an elimination match against Central Missouri they were never really close and lost 4-1 to end their title hopes.
Next up will be the Intercollegiate Team Championships in Omaha on Tuesday. Good luck ladies.

During qualifying in the ITC the Whitewater ladies were 9th out of 16. On day 2 they defeated 8th seed Sacred Heart before losing to top seed Maryland Eastern Shore. Today they'll try to work their way through the losers bracket to stay alive. Currently facing #12 Norfolk St to start the morning.

The first Intercollegiate Team Championships were held in 1975 and the first winner on the men's side was UW-La Crosse. They also won it in 1985. I don't believe there's been a D3 winner on the women's side

FCGrizzlies-did you watch any of the championship? It was very good, nice crowd and especially loud shirt worn by the Nebraska coach. Will definitely watch again next year.
