Whitewater beat Norfolk St in their first match this morning but lost 4-0 to Kutztown to end their season. It was their third appearance in the last four years at the ITC but first time they had won a match.

The first Intercollegiate Team Championships were held in 1975 and the first winner on the men's side was UW-La Crosse. They also won it in 1985. I don't believe there's been a D3 winner on the women's side
FCGrizzlies-did you watch any of the championship? It was very good, nice crowd and especially loud shirt worn by the Nebraska coach. Will definitely watch again next year.
Watched quite a bit of it. the NCAA Championship has better coverage because all the lanes were viewable at all times, but the ITC has announcers and has far more history to it.

The bowling season is underway and the ladies from UWW are off to a good start. They're ranked 8th in the initial coaches poll and finished 2nd/19 in their first event against some excellent competition (7 of the top 9, 11 of the top 14 ranked teams).
This weekend they're at Valparaiso's tourney which also has a lot of the top ranked teams. I can see in the standings that Alma and Elmhurst have sent teams too.

The latest coaches poll has the Whitewater ladies ranked 9th with a 47-22 record for the year.

The sectionals for the Intercollegiate Team Championships (all colleges... NCAA, NAIA, CCs, etc) that will take place March 15-16 have been announced.

On the women's side I see Elmhurst in the Addison, Illinois sectional. Adrian and Alma will be at the Smyrna, Tennessee sectional.
On the men's side there's Penn St-Berks, Rochester Tech, William Paterson, and Wisconsin-Whitewater all at the Allentown, PA sectional. Wisconsin-Platteville will be at the Addison sectional

How does UWW get sent so far East? Do you think they will make it to the Final Four?

Each sectional has 2 of the top 8 and 4 of the top 16 teams. UWW men were 8th so I guess they were sent to the last sectional that didn't have a second team.
My guess is that Whitewater and RIT are likely the only two of the mens teams who could advance to the Championships... don't know if any of the women will...

The 8 schools competing for the 2014 National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championship have been announced. The usual suspects have made it... Nebraska, Arkansas St, Vanderbilt, Maryland Eastern Shore, Fairleigh Dickinson, Sam Houston St, Central Missouri, and just sneaking in with the 8th spot... the Warhawks of UW-Whitewater

The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and the Mid-American Conference will host the championship, which will be held April 10-12 at Game of Wickliffe in Wickliffe, Ohio. The championship finals will air on ESPNU at 8 p.m. ET April 12. A tape-delayed broadcast of the championship finals will air on ESPN from 4-6 p.m. ET April 13.

At the NCAA championship... the Whitewater ladies earned the 4th seed for the bracket. They took down 5th seeded Fairleigh Dickinson in their first match, then fell to 8th seeded Sam Houston St. Still alive they swept 3rd seeded Vanderbilt and are now one of four teams still standing.
They now must defeat 6th seeded Nebraska in back to back matches to advance to the championship match. First match is in less than half an hour. If Whitewater wins, they'll face Nebraska again tomorrow, if they lose their season is done.
You can watch the stream from the NCAA website: http://www.ncaa.com/liveschedule/2014/04/11

Game 1: Whitewater throws 6 in a row and hold on, winning 234-211. They take an early 1-0 lead in this best of 7 match.
Game 2: Feast or famine for the Warhawks this game as they throw three splits in a row early and four for the game. They lose 236-178 and the match is tied at 1.
Game 3: It was close early, but struggles in the second half doom the Warhawks as they lose 202-172. Nebraska now leads the match 2-1
Game 4: Behind most of the game, UWW finishes strong and Nebraska struggles... a 206-185 victory and the match is now tied at 2.
Game 5: A rough stretch in the middle of the game doom the Warhawks and put them on the brink of elimination. Nebraska wins 214-157 and lead the match 3-2.
Game 6: Whitewater had the lead early but 3 straight opens in the second half cost them the game. 192-168 and Nebraska wins the match 4-2.

Nebraska will try to win their 5th title and 2nd in a row. They will face Sam Houston St who swept Maryland-Eastern Shore and will make their first championship match appearance.

Intercollegiate Team Championships are underway.
Halfway through the qualifying round to set the seedings for the double elimination bracket:
RIT men 8th out of 16
UW-Whitewater men 11th
Adrian women 13th

They're in the final few games of qualifying and then the bracket portion will begin in a few hours. I'll try to update if any of our D3 schools are on the featured pairs

UW-Whitewater men end up as the 12 seed (but were just 9 pins behind 10th) and will face NAIA school Webber International in their first match tonight.
RIT men struggled and slipped down to the 15 seed. They face D2 school McKendree in their first match.
Adrian women stayed in 13th. They will take on D2 school Newman to start their night.

It will be a tough road for the D3 schools, but Sam Houston St won the NCAA title as the 8 seed (out of 8) so it's certainly possible.

No D3 teams on the featured pairs this round, and only possible team in the second and final round of the day would be Whitewater men if they lose their current match.

UW-Whitewater men lost their match 4-2 and will be on the featured lanes shortly, taking on 13 seed Clarke. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYVsq_N8px0

Lots of upsets in the first round of matches including Adrian women winning 4-1 and RIT men 4.5-1.5

13 seeded Adrian ladies will face 5th seed Grand View, 15th seeded RIT men will face 10 seed San Jose St.

Whitewater men blew a 3-1 lead and lost 4-3 to end their tournament.
RIT men lost their match 4-2 and are in the losers bracket tomorrow morning. They will face 6th seeded Midland.
Adrian women lost their match 4-2 and also fall to the losers bracket for tomorrow. They will take on 9th seeded Maryland-Eastern Shore.

Play begins tomorrow for the two remaining D3 teams at 8am Pacific. Next loss for both teams will knock them out.

Hoosier Classic this weekend... largest field on the college schedule. UW-Whitewater men were 8th out of 78 in qualifying to make the top 12 bracket, beat 9th seed Newman, 4th seed San Jose St, and top seed Lindenwood to make the finals... held a 3-2 lead on 10th seed Robert Morris in the best of 7 championship before RMU won the last two to take the title. William Paterson finished 28th, RIT 44th, Penn St-Berks 58th, UW-Oshkosh 59th, Adrian 70th, Alma (only 2 bowlers) 78th

On the women's side, unfortunately none of the D3 teams made the top 8 bracket out of the 67 team field. Adrian 20th, Alma 21st, UW-Whitewater 22nd, Union 53rd
