http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/news/diii-reduces-number-required-contests

Not sure if I have seen this posted elsewhere so I will put htis here.

Quote"We hope that a reduction in contest minimums will provide flexibility to our member schools as they work to reopen during what is a very uncertain and complex time. We understand this won't fix everything for everyone, but we believe it is the right move at this time and we will remain flexible moving forward," said Tori Murden McClure, chair of the committee and Spalding president.

Baseballs minimum is now 17 and Football 5.

General Division III issues / D3 philosophy
December 06, 2014, 10:11:55 AM
On several boards there has been discussions about d3 sports and playoff competition.
Rock Jones the president of OWU, has a piece in a Cleveland paper about D3 sports. I think it is very appeopriate and states the D3 philosophy well.

General football / Football players wrestling.
February 18, 2013, 08:28:43 PM
This is not completely football related but thought I would ask this here anyway.

Back in the day (80's) many of the athletes that played football also wrestled, especially linemen and non skill positions. Today it doesn't seem this happens so much.

Of all of the people on the board who played Football or still are playing football, How many of you also wrestled?

Mideast Region / Summer Leagues
October 28, 2011, 12:01:16 PM
First off not sure that this is the correct place for this topic. If not feel free to move to a better location.

I want to get an Idea were coaches in the Mid East region send their players for Summer Baseball. We have heard of all the National ones such as the Cape, NECBL, Northwoods etc.

What are the other leagues that give D3 players a chance?

See a lot of questions on other forums about were do D2 and D3 freshman play? Havent't seen a real good answer yet.

For example my son has a chance to play in the New York Collegiate Baseball League next summer. I checked all there rosters and found only a few D3 Mideast players. (caveat: I am sure I do not know all the mid east region teams, so might have missed a few.)

What do you think?
