From what I have heard the SUNYIT sqaud was practicing all week long in the aud, which is against the rules of the tourney, conference and or the ncaa, not really sure which of those it was.  the AD at cortland has made a claim/protest about this and is trying to overturn the choice from the time the game hit 0:00 . obviously Pburg would still go to the NCAA but this would put C-state as runner-up in the tourney which looks better to the committee giving up those few at large spots.  No idea if this action will materialize into anything or just be blown off by sunyac officals though.  good luck on selection sunday C-state

KING

one more thing.... whoever it was comparing the sunyac to the big east... i've never heard something so crazy in my life!  the only reason they compare what so ever is that the lower level teams have the ability to knock off a top team within conference play.  however, the big east has many teams in the top 10 or even top 5 in the country at any given time.  if you take ANY team in the sunyac right now and put them against ANY top 5 team in D3 basketball they would loose by 15-20 for sure.

KING

congrats to C-state on the bid and Pburg to winning the tourney!  represent well in the NCAA's, they can't get to be a lot of fun when you get deep!

ECAC's

Manual says 500 or better. overall or divisional

Committee is chaired by Mike Lindberg at Ithaca

Committee includes reps from Fisher (NCAA team), Keuka (likely #1 seed) Rochester (likely team), Fredonia (SUNY rep) & Union (likely team LL rep)

Quick pass would suggest:

Keuka
Oswego
Union
Rochester
Potsdam
Brockport
Ithaca
SUNYIT

Criteria:

Quote
1. Divisional winning percentage, head–to-head results, results against common opponents;
2. Strength-of-schedule to be determined in part by results against teams selected into the
NCAA or already in the tournament; and
3. Regular season conference standings.
Note: The committee must review all criteria above in the order listed. A team may have an
excellent winning percentage; however the strength of schedule and results against teams in the
tournament also must be examined.

Others in the mix:
Alfred (divisional > .500)
RIT
SLU
Buffalo St
Hobart
Vassar (overall >.500)

Will know later today

Here's what the Bracket looks like to me:

1 -  Amherst
2 -  Fisher
3 - WPI
4 - Cortland
5 - Tufts
6 - Gordon
7 - Norwich
8 - Hamilton
9 - Plattsburgh
10 - Elms
11 - Utica
12 - Endicott
13 - Mass-Boston
14 - Bridgewater St

Cortland should handle Mass-Boston.  But Plattsburgh is going to have a tough time with Hamilton.

Congrats to Keuka for their ECAC bid.

If anyone connected to the Keuka team happens to see this post, please tell J. Files that Mr. & Mrs. T are bringing the team a post-game batch of cookies; one cookie for each time he's called this year.

Looking forward to seeing you in Potsdam.

Happy to see SUNY-IT in the ECAC's.  This writer predict back in Sept. that they would be much improved.  Where are my doubters now

Right on cue, SUNYIT gets summarily dispatched in the first round of the ECAC's by Brockport, 91-88. Other ECAC scores:

Potsdam 81 Keuka 69

Oswego 84 RIT 81

Ithaca 86 Union 83

Looks like Potsdam/Oswego and Ithaca/Brockport in the semis.

Hey but SUNY-IT had a hell of a year.

I know they lost to Brockport, but they problems with Brockport all season.  I think they lost both regular season games to them, as well as tonight.

But overall, a huge success story considering they lost Nick Grimmer to graduation this season and were able to do as well as they did in the regular season and then have an outstanding performance in the SUNYAC tourney before losing in the finals.

On the way north ..........(just off the course in Myrtle Beach):
Congrats to Pburghers .......and to CState and TSpan. Don't believe this is anywhere near the best Red Dragons outfit. BUT, all they did was win. Hope they can go a ways in nationals. Playing at home a fine reward.
Fact that Pburgh took Hamilton to OT before bowing last evening is testament to Cardinals' strong finish.
What's this thing all about re SUNYIT's edge (practicing at Aud) in SUNYAC tourney? Edge enough playing at home before boisterous crowd, yes? Still, tis a pretty fair IT squad coaching by Maestro Murph.

Re; SUNYIT practicing in the Aud.  ?Who's going to do anything about it?.  Grimmer (SUNYIT AD) is the league president, he's Murph's former player, what's he going to say...duh?...  Commish reports to the president (Grimmer), so he's not going to do anything. . .  Murph plays by his own rules. . . 35 years in the business & he thinks he's entitled.

That said, he proved he could win by reloading with refugees from the JUCO ranks, just like he used to win with top shelf D-III recruits.

Solution to the Aud problem:  Move the games back to the campuses.  1st Round Tuesday at top 4 seeds.  Semis's Friday night at two highest remaining seeds.  Finals on Sunday afternoon at the highest surviving seed in time for NCAA Selection committee.  Same deal for the women.   Utica Aud is a horrible venue.  Also make the SUNYAC race even more rewarding.

Every SUNYAC school has a decent gym, some are palaces by D-III standards (Oneonta, Buff St., Corts, 'port, Potsdam, Geneseo), even P'burgh, which plays in their small gym, has the field house available for bigger crowds.

P'burgh loss - tough for the Cardinal.  They had the ball in the hands of their go to guy at the end of the game, he just didn't make the FT's.  Hamilton has talent,  Amherst game will be a revelation as to relative differences between NE and East.

Agree with poster who suggested Hamilton should schedule non-leaguers with the top NESCAC schools.

LL just doesn't give them the competition to be tournament tough.  They should also be scheduling the likes of Rochester, Fisher, Cortland, Oswego, Potsdam, either alternating year home & home or in tournaments.

All are within 3 hours of Hamilton, easy road trips, but will give them tough, well coached, physical opponents to prep them for the post-season.

Much better than the opening of season tournament with New Paltz (5-20 vs. Medaille 4-21) as the LL already has more cupcakes than a bakery truck.
