Thanks. I probably knew that but clearly those brain cells are gone!

Quote from: CNU85 on March 09, 2024, 10:00:06 PMNow for the offseason question....does Jahn Hines return?

I'm not him, but why not?  They came one shot away from the Final Four with mostly freshmen.

I'm thinking the same as you. They made it to the Elite 8 with mostly Freshmen. Most times there were at least 2 freshmen on the floor. There were games when I saw 5 on the floor. Time to recruit a big man or two, see what Hines decides, and make another run.

Quote from: CNU85 on March 09, 2024, 09:59:10 PMCongrats to Guilford. What a crazy game. Defenses were insane. And the fact that CNU held Dearman to 0-15 from the floor and then he scores winning bucket just shows what a good player he is. Never give up. You never know when 1-16 does the job. Best of luck next weekend, especially this next game!
It was a crazy, chippy, intense, defensive game.  Yep, 1/16 and he hit the winning shot!  I actually initially thought CNU's heave at the buzzer went in, then realized it only grazed the net.

Hampden-Sydney HC Kimbrough played for Guilford HC Palombo for 4 years and was his Assistant for six.  To say they know each other is an understatement!

CNU is good!  The Captains were all we could handle.  Congratulations to Christopher Newport on a great season!

Go Quakers!

Thanks. We had more than enough locker room drama and the roster changed drastically. And with injuries, we were down to 4 available players who were not Freshmen. The first year guys scored 60% of the total points in that game. I think they were close to 50% for the year. The future is promising. However, we do need to find a couple of big men. We are down to 1 for next year.

The game Friday in FT Wayne should be a fun one to watch. Go Quakers!

Congrats to Guilford! That was a tough game. Very tough. And kudos to CNU freshmen, scoring 60% of the Captain's points. This is going to be a very special team going forward.

Maybe I can help. Somewhere it was mentioned that driving from RIC to Crenshaw would take "20 minutes at most". But then someone pointed out that it is 26.1 miles and not possible. Then it was said that if you drive 78 MPH it would take 20.0769 minutes. This confused me slightly since 20.0769 is still more than 20 minutes. However if it was said to travel at 79 MPH then the first argument holds true since that equates to 19.822785 Minutes and thus "20 minutes at most".

Then there is the issue of acceleration and deceleration. One would have to go from 0-79 in an instant and also from 79-0 in another instant and maintain exactly 79 MPH for the duration of the 26.1 miles. I can attest firsthand that it takes 3 seconds to go from 0-150 when launched off of a carrier deck and also 2 seconds to decelerate from 135-0. So the only way I can see a deceleration anywhere close to what is being proposed would involve the brick wall at Crenshaw. And then there would be the airbags and blood and screaming. Although mathematically possible, I would not recommend anyone trying it.

I hope this helps clarify some things

Same here. The conference landscape is very confusing, even for those who know what's going on.

Congrats to the Captains! NJAC Champions and gave RMC a run for their money in the first round. Crowley and his staff Co-Coach of the year. Gunner White offensive POY in NJAC. He was injured late in 1st half against RMC and never returned. That had a huge impact on the game.

We Played JHU and RMC very close. One score games. In fact all of CNU losses were within 1 score. Crowley has these guys heading in the right direction on the field and on campus. It is good to see the re-emergence of CNU football.

Cheers y'all!

And.....when you say "CNU" to my 2 yr old grandson he replies "Go Captains!"

Absolutely great season for the Captains CNU85! Big W over Salisbury and a very close game against JHU. Congratulations! +k

Whew - I thought I posted a reply to this....but I don't see it. Wow.....in the words of comedian Bob Nelson in his football skit, "The mind is a terrible thing"

In my thoughts I posted - thanks Ice! It was a good season and to think that CNU was within 1 score of both Hopkins and RMC, which was not the fate of teams last weekend, makes one wonder!

Cheers!

Cheers Ice - I always enjoy your posts on all the boards

About the best draw you could imagine for R-MC. Some tough teams in that bracket, as there should be for playoffs, but it's a winnable bracket very deep. Good luck YellowJackets!
For me, CNU is the logical 1st round opponent. There should be a very good crowd for that game. (Do I remember correctly that CNU travels relatively nicely for a D3 school?)

We do indeed travel well for a D3 school. I remember one year, we had a regular season game at HSC and we sent 3 busloads of students plus all of us who drove. I'm not sure how they handle tickets for visitors at RMC (or what NCAA rules stipulate). I imagine most of what is allotted to CNU will be used. My wife keeps suggesting we go and I'm the alum!! I need to decide by tomorrow if I want tickets.

The question is: Does Hampden-Sydney really want ItTM? The BeltTM probably smells like fish after hanging out at Buckroe Beach all summer.

Hahaha! Nobody in Newport News goes to Buckroe Beach. That's a Hampton hangout.

Well, maybe if they did The BeltTM would've chosen to remain in Hampton Roads, rather than hie itself off to the middle of the Piedmont with the HSC Tigers. If you want to keep The BeltTM, you must indulge The BeltTM.

The BeltTM probably got sick of jet noise.

(Don't mid the niche humor, I don't find many occasions to make jokes related to commercials my agency has worked on.)

Nice video. I hear the F-22 Raptors every day at work. I'm in the flight path. In fact you can't see them looking out either side of the building. They are directly overhead. Love jet noise!

Aha! The belt was tired of The Peninsula. The belt should have gone with me to Florida for a quick trip. I would have indulged The Belt at the Crooked Can.
