Wow... I haven't seen that in a long time... runners called out at first on IF single... last out of inning. St. Thomas leaves the field, the 1st base coach argues with the 1st base ump, gets nowhere, Augie Schmidt comes and argues more, then asks the HP ump for a ruling and the ump calls him safe... inning goes on. 4-3 AUGU in the 3rd.

Finally up and going in here now... trying to get myself set up for the sidelines but not quite working out. Chris Olean and Augie Schmidt are conferring with the umpiring crews at home plate, announcements about to come in the Midwest regional game #2.

Thanks Ryan. Appreciate the effort today! Give Augie a hug for me.

I don't think I want to get within 20 feet of Augie today...

There are two Augies... the happy, fun loving guy and the cranky gnarly guy. You never know which one you are going to get.
Baseball is not a game that builds character, it is a game that reveals it.

After 3 innings, UST 7, CRTH 4.

#6 Trinity (TX) almost scratches out a run in the top of the first against #1 Chapman, but a K with two out leaves their leadoff man stranded at third.    In their half of the inning, Chapman gets runners at the corners with one out after a double, a walk, and a passed ball, but Chapman's cleanup hitter grounds into a double play to end the threat.   0-0 after one in a chilly, wet McMinville.

After 6.5 innings, the Tommies are settling in with a 9-4 lead over Carthage. Photos are being downloaded from the first 15 innings now; might get some up soon.

Side note:
The first base umpire seems to have found no fans on either side of the field, upsetting both the Carthage and the St. Thomas benches on calls in the last few innings.

Kinda reminds you of Texas baseball in February.   :-\

After a scoreless second inning, Trinity strikes first thanks to a hit batsman, two Linfield Chapman errors, and a one-out single, though a second runner is caught at the plate.  1-0 with Chapman to bat in the bottom of the third.   A total of three hits so far - and three Chapman errors.

I find it odd that Linfield is making errors during the Trinity-Chapman game.

They really shouldn't let the Linfield players on the field until the first game is over.

Maybe the Linfield errors were (a) putting the bid in and (b) accepting it.     ;)

Chapman gets the run back with a homer in the bottom of the third.  1-1 after three.

Nice job by starting pitcher Alex Eliopoulos as Hopkins takes care of business on Day 1, 13-4 over Moravian.  He went five, gave up a run on three infield singles in the third inning (I don't recall ever seeing that before), struck out 4 and had 9 ground ball outs.
A walk is never as good as a hit!

Rain delay at Linfield with score knotted at 1.

crazy happenings today in Marietta at the Mideast Regional.  TWO extra inning upsets to start the day....(4)W&J loses to (5)Adrian, and (3)Marietta goes down to (6)Thomas More.

and (7)Penn State - Berhend actually came to play against (2)Wooster.  Baseball is a crazy game isn't it :)

Maybe on paper #5 Adrian over #4 W&J.

Adrian has shown that they can play. To wit, the 2008 D-III Series.
