Title: MIAA in-game updates
Post by: Pat Coleman on June 24, 2008, 10:29:03 AM
This season, please use this board rather than the main MIAA board to post in-progress updates.

As a reminder, all scores posted by schools are always available on the D3hoops.com Scoreboard (http://www.d3hoops.com/scores/).

I guess we might as well use this board for what it is intended.

Calvin squandered an early 31-17 lead to head into halftime at Olivet's Cutler Center trailing the Comets 36-35.  John Mantel was whistled for two early fouls, so he spent most of the first half on the bench.

Halftime in Grand Rapids:

Hope 39
Wheaton 32

Hope's led by as many as 13 in this one; Wheaton was unable to get any closer than five. The Dutch are doing a great job of driving to the basket and then either getting the easy layup or kicking it out for an open midrange shot, although, true to their m.o., they are not hitting any threes (0-4). David Krombeen, the leading scorer for the game with 14, is slicing and dicing the Wheaton D at will. I am not at all impressed by the Hope big man, 6'10 D1 transfer Nate Van Arendonk.

Wheaton's led by Tim McCrary with 10 points, but he's not getting to many rebounds and only has one dime thus far.

Hope's outshooting Wheaton from the field, 58% to 40%, and is killing the Sonic Atmospheric Disturbance on the boards, 19-9.

Am I the only one who's getting a case of vertigo from watching a video feed that's coming from what is apparently the rafters of Van Noord Arena?

How would you like to be stationed that high?  Hopefully it is remotely operated!

It is indeed in the rafters. Trusses, actually.

Albion used the first six minutes of the second half to build a seven point lead, but a 12-2 run has Platteville up by 3 with just over ten minutes left.

Well, Albion couldn't quite find enough offense to stay with UW-Platteville. The Britons only scored 6 points in the last 6 minutes or so, and the Pioneers were able to pull away. 73-61 is the final.

7-3 Calvin over Whitman but Tyler Kruis had to take a seat with two early fouls. About 3 minutes in.

Calvin tied with Whitman 37-37 at the half. 8-0 run by the Knights to end the half.

Calvin 45, Whitman 45 relatively early in the second half. Foul trouble for the Knights; Snikkers with 3, Kruis with 3, and Van Eck with 3. I think foul calls are 5-0 against the Knights in the second half. Maybe 5-1.

Calvin 53, Whitman 60 under 10:00 to play. Turnover bug bites again.

Calvin 57, Whitman 66 5 minutes left.

Calvin 67, Whitman 84. Whitman gets hot in the last five minutes, and Calvin goes stone cold.

Calvin starts the second half with a 9-0 run to take a 35-34 lead at Adrian. 17:00 to play.

6-0 run back for Adrian 40-35 Bulldogs lead 14:33 left.

49-46 Adrian. 10:00 left to play.

Adrian stretches the lead to 58-49 with 5:00 to play. Calvin just doesn't have the shooters.

And Adrian closes it out. 68-61 is the final.
