To get grammatically technical here, D-Mac was speaking in the present perfect progressive tense rather than the present perfect tense. In other words, he was using a present participle ("considering") to describe actions that began at some point in the past and continue through the present.

I hope that the grammar lesson didn't clear the room. ;)

I don't ever remember the nuns teaching me that one in grade school! ??? Or high school either for that matter. ;D

And the grammar lesson didn't clear the room, but it sure cleared up a lot of the confusion. 8-)

Stevens downs Alfred 68-60. Alfred led until there were 12 minutes left to play when the Ducks finally went ahead 43-42 on a three pointer. Stevens never trailed after that point. Alfred traling 56-51 closes to within 3 but another 3 pointer built ti back to 6 and the Saxons never got closer than 5 points after that. Alfred is now 0-9 in their Empire 8  games against Stevens.

Bowdoin welcomes Hamilton back to the NESCAC rather rudely as they defeat the Continentals 74-61. Hamilton comes back from an 11 point 1st half defict and finally catches the Polar Bears at 16:57 of the 2nd period at 39 all. Bowdoin goes back up by 3 and the Continentals get a trifecta from Bradley Gifford to tie it at 42. From that point on it was all Bowdoin. A 17-1 run fueled by Will Hanley, Justin Nowell, and John Swords put the Polar Bears in control 59-43 with 10 minutes to play. Continentals fell behind by as much as 21 at 72-51. A closing 10-2 spurt by Hamilton shortened the gap. Hamilton had problems with Hanley all night long while Swords and Newall never missed a fg attempt going 7x7 between them

Bowdoin was led by Hanley who was the game's high scorer with 25 points (9x17 fg, 7x9 ft) and managed a double double as well with 11 rebounds. Ryan O'Connell (4x9 fg, 2x5 3's) and John Swords (4x4 fg, 2x3 ft) both scored 10 points.

Continentals had 12 players hit the scoring column led by Pat Sullivan with 9 (4x12 fg, 1x2 3's).  Both Gifford (3x5 fg, 2x3 3's) and Greg Newton (4x10 fg,0x2 3's) added 8 points.

Bowdoin just outshot the Continentals tonight as they connected on 54.7% of their attempts (29x53 fg). They were 4x12 3's (33.3%) and 12x17 from the stripe (70.6%).  Hamilton hit on only 38.5% of their shots (25x65) 7x24 3's (29.2%) and only got to the line 6 times making 4. Polar Bears had a slight edge on the glass 35-32 and both teams were less than stellar taking care of the ball, suffering 15 turnovers each.

Bowdoin improves to 10-2 and is now off until Friday January 13th when they travel to Tufts for a 8 PM tip off.

Hamilton falls to 10-5 and will next host Colby on Sunday January 8th at 4 PM.

Amherst breaks loose from a 59-59 tie with 1:47 to play with back to back buckets. They hit 3 of 4 free throws, the last 2 by Aaron Toomey with 3 seconds to go to make 66-61. Wesleyan's Brian Galvin with a bomb at the buzzer to make the final 66-64.

Williams is in big trouble, down 11 with 12 to go, the Ephs can not buy a shot, 0-10 from 3, many very open, just over-thinking the shots at this point.  Williams has really struggled on defense, and Tufts is playing great team ball, getting plenty of easy shots, and converting them.  Williams needs Wang/Robertson to take over a bit, and to start hitting threes, if they hope to dig out of the hole, but Tufts has really been impressive.  Mayer is the only guy doing anything for Williams, while Tufts has been very balanced and playing with a lot of passion on both ends.

This game is @ Tufts, right??  Because the Williams women lost as well, and have a hard time seeing Williams getting swept at home.

This game isn't at Tufts. It's in Williamstown. :o

magicman, I won't presume to speak for Greg, but I (like Q, apparently) read "outer margins of the Top 25" akin to "outer margins of the bubble" (i.e., you ain't likely to get in).

Greg?

Well, that's an entirely different argument isnt it? I didn't think we were discussing Pool C bids. ???

I said 'akin', not the same thing!  If read as 'akin', it would mean "you ain't likely to be IN the Top 25".

OK,  so now you're saying that you believe what Greg said, really meant "Wheaton and IWU ain't likely to get into the Top 25". I didn't get that impression from his statement. I guess it's a matter of interpretation. That, and which team one roots for. ;D

To make Justin Mitchell's week a little sweeter The Buffalo State forward was named to the D3hoops Team of the Week for the week ending January 1st.

This marks the 4th time out of 6 weeks that a player from the SUNYAC conference has received this D3hoops award.

Congratulations to Justin Mitchell who was chosen as the SUNYAC PLAYER of the WEEK for the week ending January 3rd

Here's the write up from the SUNYAC website:

Buffalo State junior forward Justin Mitchell (Buffalo/Timon) was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week, and the Bengals moved up three spots to 21st in this week's D3hoops.com national poll.

The Bengals handed Wesleyan (Ct.) just its second loss of the season on Saturday, winning 80-77, and then defeated the previously unbeaten host Cardinals, 82-81, on Sunday to win the Catholic University Classic.

Mitchell was named the MVP of the tournament after averaging 18.0 points in the two victories, including matching a career-high with 27 points against Catholic in the title game.

Buffalo State's 10-1 start is its best start to a season since opening the 1991-92 campaign with an 11-1 mark.  The Bengals are 23-2 in their last 25 games dating back to last season.

Buffalo State will play an exhibition game tomorrow at Division I University at Buffalo at 7 p.m., before returning to SUNYAC play at home next Monday against Fredonia at 8 p.m.

I hate to disappoint people but there is no massey WIAC bias, the WIAC just plays good basketball, that's why they always rate so high. :)

I think Whitewater is probably pretty underrated.

I'm not saying the WIAC shouldn't be rated highly in Massey, don't get me wrong. It's when other conferences get dragged up because they have a couple crossover games that I think doesn't work.

I agree with you Pat, that's exactly the problem with Massey. Especially when those other conferences are playing WIAC teams on the lower end of the totem pole. And the WIAC isn't the only conference that this has happened with. The UAA and NESCAC has had that same effect at times.
