UT-Dallas wins in 5:
      (25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 20-25, 15-10)

UT-Dallas:  Wetz--21 kills, 30 digs
Austin College:  Fleming-- 23 kills

It's been nearly a year since anyone posted, so:

Trinity (TX) gets 2011 off to a 3-0 start:
3-1 @ Schreiner (25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 25-15)

at the Trinity Fall Classic:
3-2 vs. NAIA-I Loyola (LA)  (32-34, 24-26, 28-26, 25-16, 16-14)
3-1 vs. #9 Wisconsin-Platteville (23-25, 25-18, 25-19, 26-24)

Notable:  there were over 2000 in attendance for the Platteville game in a show of support for TU senior Catherine Found, who lost both her sister and mother in the last few weeks.

WLCALUM83

That win over Platteville will be big if they don't stumble before the next poll. #2 Emory lost at #5 Wittenberg earlier, so depending on tomorrow's results in the Witt/Juniata/Emory meet and elsewhere, there could be quite a bit of motion in the next poll.

Wittenberg won all its' matches at its' own meet, Juniata and Emory both lost 1 match, and Puget Sound upset Whitworth out west- so there figures to be a lot of shifting when the next poll comes out.

Trinity won the other two matches (3-1 Hardin-Simmons [ASC West preseason favorite], 3-0 East Texas Baptist) so they should show up somewhere in the Top 25 this week.    :)

Hendrix College at 5-1 so far in conference play is going to surprise some teams this season.
Today they beat Trinity 3-0 and Dallas 3-0. Freshman Kylee Spicer is coming on stronger as the season progresses and they have a great setter.

Trinity is losing its VB luster and even with two tough loses and then a win over Rust.....Hendrix is continuing to improve in leaps and bounds.....They have confidence and I think Saturday they will win 2 and possibly lose 1......but they could surprise you.

Trinity comes back from an 0-2 deficit to defeat Southwestern for the SCAC championship, 17-25, 20-25, 25-19, 25-22, 15-11.   Southwestern defeated #11 Colorado College 3-0 in the semis so we'll see if their strong performance this week results in a Pool C bid; at 26-11 they may be on the outside looking in.   CC (33-4) will get a bid from the West Region.

Ron Boerger

Surprised to see Trinity get to host a regional this weekend.  The SCAC got three teams in, Southwestern also got a bid on the strength of their performance last weekend.  Five Texas teams got bids including HSU, UT-Dallas, Mary Hardin-Baylor from the ASC.   Other teams coming along are Cal Lutheran (30-1!), Pomona-Pitzer (20-8), UC-Santa Cruz (20-6).

Colorado College is the #2 seed in the Emory regional.

Let's go Trinity!

Ron Boerger

A shame nobody participates on the VB boards any more ... we could talk about the regional at Southwestern this week which has 4 of the top 6 teams in the country, according to AVCA.

Yes, that one guy posted a lot.  I guess he gave up.

I saw WLC is back to posting (in the ASC thread), welcome back WLC!

Happened to catch a note in the Colorado College season opener writeup that their head coach, Rick Swan, will be stepping down after this season.  He will be a very hard act to follow.   The mountain Tigers are fortunate in that they get both Trinity and Southwestern, their primary SCAC competition, at home this season in back-to-back weeks.

St. Thomas over TX Lutheran in 3 (and with that, St. Thomas gets the sweep on the day.)
