I also just noticed that Robert Petitjean, the Punter isn't back. We didn't use him a ton, but I don't see a single Punter listed on the roster.

Caruso plans to stunt every punting situation and all the punters left football for the tiddly-winks team?  They are a strange breed.

I didn't realize we had Tommies transferring up to SJ2. Also, though it's clear that SJ2 football isn't what it once was and the fan base is upset, "the tiddly-winks team" might be a bit harsh. The Johnnies should be proud of being perennial second place finishers. It's quite an accomplishment...

It's called a quip, Rev, not a slooooowpe.

I know...just needed an excuse for some SJ2 banter. I'm out of practice, which isn't good given that the new season is almost upon us.  :)

The Johnnie Kickoff Luncheon was a huge success yet again. The "State of the Team" reports by various coaches was informative. The afternoon practice session was outstanding.

An interesting note is the impact the volunteer O-line assistant coach Mike Magnuson(SJU 90) is having getting high quality kids from CDH to become Johnnies. I understand he was a volunteer coach at CDH prior to his time with SJU the past two seasons.Currently two  O-line starters, a RB who will be a significant contributor and the starting FS are all CDH kids.

Things are getting interesting with some wrinkles of the Point a Minute Offense and the D is looking tough as ever. 2018 should be fun.

As an outsider, I don't want to get in the SJ2 vs U$T rivalry. I refer to both as SJU and UST. However, I do want to wish good luck on the season to both teams. Would love to see St. John's get back to their old self where they are fighting for playoffs and national prominence. Great school with a winning tradition. Go Johnnies!
And like it or not, St. Thomas is always in the hunt for a national championship. Another great school with a pretty good program. Go Tommies!
And as long as I'm here, how about a Go Raiders! A game with either SJU or UST would be a good game.
The best to all our Dlll teams as we begin our season shortly. Hope everyone stays healthy and each team plays at it's best.
Please excuse the ramblings of an old Mount grad. But damn, I love Dlll football.
Remember, I'm old. I get mixed up and I forget things.

It goes back to 1901 so I am the only one on this board that remembers it.
A JOHNNIE player by the name of Shagnasty (no relation to Charlie Blackmon) missed Vespers one Sunday and was expelled and became a tommie. He later donated a lot of money to the tomcats and the fight was on. Something like that but my memory is fading.   :)

Great story! And, obviously, your mind is as sharp as ever. No seeming sign of senility. I hope I can be that sharp when I grow up. Oh wait, I'm old. I get mixed.............! Oh, you know the rest. ☠🏈

Relatively true story. That is why the Johnnies play at Clemens Stadium and the Tommies play at shagnasty field!  :)
