On Monday October 11, D3baseball.com will release the 2000 All-Decade team.  Our crack staff has been looking at players all summer and are finalizing the list now.

Who do you think should be included?

Jim Dixon

To be included in the All-Decade list, we required that each player play at least 2 years in in the decade (2000-2009).  The decade's first Player of the Year, Matt Gelotti did not qualify but will be considered when we do a 1990's team.

We also will chose a coach of the decade to go with a player at each position.  We allowed 4-5 pitchers/team.

Off top of my head, a pitcher from USA-South to be considered:

- Kenny Moreland (CNU)

Anyone on position guys from USA-South from 2000-2009?

3 of the top HR hitters are from Pomona....Could it have anything to do wth the extremely short RF  fences at their home field. Not taking anything away from these players just a fact that everyone knows playing there.

It depends on how many are hit at home.  With no standard field, you need to add a stadium factor to a players stats and that sounds like a nice long project, just not for me.

From the WIAC, I think you really only have four guys that have the credentials to earn consideration for a spot on the All 2000's team:

In no particular order:
1.  Vince Mancuso (Oshkosh) A two time WIAC Position Player of the Year (2002 and 2003) and 2003 National Player of the Year.

2.  Brady Endl (Whitewater) A two time WIAC Pitcher of the Year (2001 and 2004.)  In addition, he was also a 1st Team All WIAC selection as a DH/1B in 2002, 2003 and 2004.  2004 National Player of the Year.

3.  Jeremy Jirschele (Oshkosh) A two time WIAC Position Player of the Year (2004 and 2005-Co-winner.)  A 1st Team All American in 2004 and 2005.

4.  Jordan Zimmerman (Stevens Point)  A two time WIAC Pitcher of the Year (2006 and 2007.)  A 2nd team All American in 2006 and 2007.

Did I miss anyone??
2008-09 and 2012-13 WIAC Fantasy League Champion

2008-09 WIAC Pick'Em Tri-Champion

Jeremy Jirschele was also the defensive player of the year twice.

Jordan Zimmermann's career stats lacks what could have been a spectacular senior year.

Imagine what Kitchens would have been had he not been hurt and missed almost his entire senior year at Chapman.
Baseball is not a game that builds character, it is a game that reveals it.

I think you have to seriously consider both Brian Youchak (OF or 2B) and Todd Emr (3B). Their stats are unparalleled and Youchak led two teams to Wisconsin from a school that had not been there in quite awhile:

Career Stats:

Youchak:

BA: .461
Hits: 259
HR: 30
2B: 53
OBPS: 1.230

Emr:

BA: .445
Hits: 225
HR: 15
2B: 53
