Good Luck to Lady Lions of Piedmont College and John Dzik today as he returns to the sidelines as a head coach.  The legendary former Cabrini men's coach and current Piedmont AD will take over the team  as they take on Spellman College on Atlanta, GA.  Dzik steps up to the head spot as the Lady Lions coach Jamie Purdy has to step aside for the remainder of the season with pregnancy-related issues.

What?  The Cemetery closed?!?! Jeez. Now I'll never be able to get home from Alvernia.  I don't know a way home that doesn't have 'take a left and stop at the Cemetery for a few cold ones' in the directions.

It would probably be close, but I have to think that the talent level of the 5ht year seniors lots of these places like Oak Hill and American Christian have would make the difference.  i saw most of the guy listed above play, and the HS talent level is far superior.

I'll give some points to the D3 boys for maturity and cunning, but in the end talent usually wins out and a well-coached HS all-American team is going to be a well-coached D3 all-American team most night.  Speed kills and size and speed kill painfully.  Andrew Olsen was a great D3 player, but Tyreke Evans would be by him so fast Olsen would look silly.  The other issue is the size of the HS kids setting screens and creating scoring lanes.  My guess is that the D3 kids would work pretty hard on D, but I can't see them being able to hold down guys who could be playing every night in the NBA.

On the neutral site - In the days before the PAC, some of the local schools played in the ESAC that had a championship weekend at a site that rotated among the members.  It was a great atmosphere and really made for a fun weekend of getting to know players, coaches and fans from the other teams.  A few other conferences have, at times played at a larger local venue similar to Villanova's pavillion.

It's not impossible to do it, but my guess is that it's not going to happen.

On Glenn Washington.  Let's hope he has learned his lesson and this series of problems has concluded.

I think what Patrick is saying is that there are some conference that will only get one bid, with nearly 100% certainty.  While there are other conferences like the CCC and E8 that are most likely going to only get 1 bid, but, even if it is 95% likely they would not get an at large, the conference is not "mathematically-eliminated" from getting an at large bid.  I think we have illustrated a few conferences that are very likely only to get one bid, but there are still some remote scenarios where it is conceivable they could get a second bid; for example, if the top regular season team's wins all their games except for the tourney final (and also gets help from other "safe" teams holding serve in their conference tourneys).

Exactly.

When you ask a statistican for analysis, you're always going to get both the "most likely" and "I can't rule it out" extremes. "Most likely" UNE has no chance for a Pool C bid, but "I can't rule it out."

Unlike, say, the GNAC, which has no chance of a Pool C bid.

Well - I'll go out on the limb Patrick is unwilling to.  If the CCC gets 2 bids, I will abstain from adult beverages in Salem.

There's no way the CCC gets 2 bids with the UNE schedule.  It's just not possible.

HF -

I think this is the right place to talk about teams whose fans think they should be getting top 25 votes.  It's a national question.

Well first, if Rust was going to possibly make the playoffs, it would be as a Pool B, not a Pool C.  And the only way they can make it as a Pool B is if about 10 Pool B teams suddenly pull out of the NCAA in the next week.

I think they are allowed to participate in 2, only when their team is not being discussed.

I would suspect they are allowed to participate in the bracketing process when their part of the country is not being worked on.

I can't imagine they are allowed to participate in 1, since that goes against how it's been described to us.

Unless the rules hav recently changed, you are correct Mr. Coleman.

I've seen a number of the top 25 play as well as UNE.  While UNE has some nice players and a great streak going, the streak comes against one of the worst schedules in the nation.

Their only win of note is over Colby, and their only wins over a +.500 team on the road are Bates and Husson, with a paltry 13 wins each.

Early in the season I watched UNE get positively SMASHED by Bowdoin at home in a game where they could not throw the ball in the nearby ocean.

Enjoy the season you're having.  But it's important to note that you own regional rankers put a bunch of teams with worse records in front of the 10th ranked Nor'Easters.  If you're only just barely getting love in your own region how do you expect to break into a top 25 where 3 of the top 5 teams come from the Wisconsin Goliath Conference?

Eastern was an NAIA until 1988 or so. Their best player of the NCAA era was undoubtedly Kenny Coull, who played for Eastern during the ESAC days.  That kid could score from anywhere and was as smooth off the dribble as anyone.
