Yet another article focusing on Duncan's time at Willians.  This time with loads of quotes from
Dan Wohl:

https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2020-09-14/duncan-robinson-is-the-heat-sharpshooter-with-humble-roots

I think pretty much every angle has now been covered, except what reporter is gonna track down Michael Mayer, the guy who relegated Duncan to a second option on that Eph team :)?

Well, they didn't track down Mayer, but Yahoo DID quote from a bunch of former Ephs in the latest Duncan feature, including, yes, noting that Mayer was the best guy on that squad:

https://sports.yahoo.com/duncan-robinsons-remarkable-rise-from-diii-afterthought-to-the-nba-finals-173557666.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAGPh_c8CHLAm3JKGSdPdLJQxi98GSwZi35ulPTahv4RQhM-yCMrjJigbTTCxX4qY683FsuM9ZuAFaZqxhNPSmb5gLNPzVLan2DFT8d-b8cXp8nmKiU3k_uaQReh8ic_st9dudBVub5uaLX76qesiCnulGH7usw4bRggg_xe6gGkw

D3 luminaries Crotty, Rafferty, Aronowitz, Greenman, Weinheimer and Wohl all featured prominently in the article.

Duncan (and the Heat) had a rough start to the finals, but the team, and he, have improved each game.  Even though Duncan hasn't QUITE found his stroke, I thought last night was one of his best all-around games of the playoffs.  He attracts SO much attention from the defense that he opens up the entire middle of the floor for his teammates, as evidenced by his incredible plus 27 while on the floor last night.  And he was really active on defense, working his ass off on every possession, providing a lot of good help D.  His solid overall stat line (13-5-3, with two steals and a block of Lebron James) reflected that he's contributing more than just outside gunning.  But hopefully, most of those 3's will start to drop, as Miami absolutely needs him to have at least one huge shooting game to stay alive for much longer in this series.

Hoop Dirt is reporting that Bob Sheldon is retiring from Tufts after 32 seasons, with AC Matt Malone set to take over on an interim basis. Obviously not an official announcement, but they don't get a lot wrong.

Big news re: Tufts.   What a bummer that he didn't get to see that last NCAA run through to its conclusion ... that was a darn talented squad.

Two guard recruits for Williams:

Glatzer looks like a really skilled player on his highlights:

From Woj: The Rockets are planning to promote Executive VP of Basketball Operations Rafael Stone to general manager, sources said. Stone has played a significant part in the Rockets' team building throughout his tenure with the organization.

Wow.   That makes two Nescac NBA GM alums.  Crazy.  (Stone is Williams '94).  Williams is now one smart franchise away (hire Will Hardy!) from the player-coach-GM trifecta!

Thanks to NESCAC1 for keeping this site alive!

Here is a video of the big man that Amherst just got a commitment from:

The Polar Bears get a commitment from James McGowan, a 5-11 sharpshooter from the Middlesex Magic and Westwood HS (MA). He was the league MVP and a Boston Globe all-scholastic in 2019-20. Here's a link to video highlights: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13766517/5e6ff43457982217a82e3d4e

Thanks all for the newest  Amherst's recruit info.  He lives just "next door neighborhood"...north of me.  About 10 miles outside of his Catholic all-boys school in Wash. DC....near the DC train station on/in the Capital Hill area.  His school competes in the tough Catholic league that has sent top players to D1 schools and the pros.

Duncan Robinson note:  he told M-Live that the Lakers nicknamed him "Jimmy Neutron". ;D

NESCAC recruits to date:

Amherst: Noah Helmke, 6'6 F, Berkshire School, Will Scherer, 6'9 C, Gonzaga College H.S.
Bates: Drew Sachs, 6'1 G, Governor's Academy
Bowdoin: James McGowan, 6'0 G, Westwood
Colby: David Stewart, 6'8 G, Mt. Zion Prep, Ben Kaczmarek, 6'4 G, St. Sebastian's
Conn College
Hamilton: Graham Robinson, 6'10 C, St. Paul's
Middlebury:
Trinity: Sean Macarchuk, 6'5 G/F, St. Thomas Moore
Tufts:
Wesleyan:
Williams: Evan Glatzer, 6'3 G, Friends Seminary, Charles Willmott, 6'1 G, Lincoln (OR) (football / hoops)

Overall, pretty quiet (both in terms of raw numbers and expected high-impact guys).  But I imagine more will roll in over the next few weeks ... Glatzer and Helmke both look like guys who could perhaps make an early impact given their perimeter skills.  I'll be curious to see if Conn College has another strong recruiting year after last year's monster class.  If they do, the team that takes the floor in 21-22 won't remotely resemble what we've been accustomed to the last few years.

Colby just keeps on rolling, bringing in bigger guys with perimeter skills who can play up front in that system, which is all about creating mismatches, spacing and cutting.  Strahorn really is good at identifying guys who slip under the radar who will be big assets for him.  Stewart is described here (by, it appears, his Dad) as "Duncan Robinson 2.0."  While that he is surely not, anyone who can guard big guys on one end and hit 3s on the other will, down the line, be a good fit at Colby.

That's a great get for Vassar.  I guess it would have been too awkward for Toomey to remain at Amherst ... but still a loss for the program.  He will be a head coach one day, he's still very young to land a head coaching job just yet.

Has Sears announced his assistant coaches yet?  None are listed on the website and it's been quite awhile now since he was hired.  And it's the heart of the recruiting season, when assistants do have a really big role.

Schools already announced as not playing this season may not be in a rush to fill empty positions at the moment.
