Congrats on the win and good luck this weekend to both Capital and MUC.

I don't think Cap has a worse O, it's actually better in terms of being able to both run and pass, the only poor offensive game was ott with four fumbles.  Other than that, the O is better than last year.  Time of possession has been big this year.

They had five or six turnovers (can't remember the exact number and don't want to look for it) against Marietta, however, the D shut Etta out of the endzone on these TO's.  Compared to the past two years, I would agree that Cap's O seems to be down, but not because of the playmaking ability or players.  They just don't seem to take care of the ball and play very sloppy at times.

My vote for the playoffs would go to ONU for the simple fact they beat Mount.

Someone said Etta could end up just about where they were last year and it actually looks like it came true.  I didn't believe it at the time but it's true.

I told you so. ;)  Things are still headed in the right direction down on the river, not quite where they want to be yet, but getting there.

Capital at 8-2 has the advantage with wins over JCU and ONU but that Otterbein loss will haunt them.  I'll take nothing away from Otterbein, they've had a great year but that was a bit of a fluke win for them.

I guess five fumbles in the second half by Capital makes this a fluke win for Otterbein.  I saw the Otterbein game last year when it took Cap a last minute TD drive to pull out the victory.  This year however, they weren't as fortunate.  When you have that many turnovers, you shouldn't win.  The Cap and Ott game is always tough and I personally would not call this year's win a fluke, but that is my opinion.  At the end of the season there are a ton of should have, could have, and would have's and JCU, ONU and CAP fans (or so it seems from the posts) are all expecting a win this weekend and already looking at the what if's.  Well, what if two of the teams lose this weekend, then there would be a clear cut second place team with a better argument.  The season isn't over.  Unfortunately if they all three win, I don't think any of the 3 8-2 teams get in because there is no clear cut team that is that much more deserving than the others.  Great arguments can be made in favor of all three teams, and if an unbiased person from the OAC, such as myself, would have a hard time choosing one, how could an NCAA committee reach an agreement to send one.  I just think that in the end all three will be sitting at home watching.  I would like to see any one of the three get in and make a run for the Stagg.

If Cap beats JCU, nobody but MUC goes to the playoffs from the OAC.  I agree that you cannot justify one 8-2 team over the other two.  Would I like to see two OAC teams in, yes.  I highly doubt it will happen if JCU loses to CAP.  Just my thoughts on the scenario.

That is very shocking news about Coach Benny, as we called him at Etta.  I cannot resound enough how great of a guy and coach Benny was.  He put all he had into the program when he was there and will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him.

When I was playing, I don't really remember much student support from any of the OAC schools.  Maybe it is hard to pick out the student section, but unless it was homecoming or a cross town rival, I don't really recall any place that had a good student following.  Capital did have the drunk guys that lived in the house by the stadium, they were just plain annoying and vulgar.  If anyone has other thought I wouldn't mind hearing them, but I just can't recall one school that had a student following, at least not when we were in town.

I was at the 100th meeting of Massilon/McKinley, and it is truly a special thing for the Massilon and Canton area.  I am glad to see the two teams are back to their winning ways.

I agree that MUC would definitely be in with a 3-way tie at the top.  If I had a vote, it would be hard to vote for JCU after a 70 - 0 drubbing from MUC, but on the other hand JCU handled ONU fairly easy when they played.  As a result, I would flip a coin to see who got my choice.  I guess it all comes down to the NCAA appeal if all three end up 9 - 1, and I hope for ONU's sake that it goes in their favor.  As far as this weekend, ONU can now see the promised land and I don't think CAP can go into Ada and beat them.  I think it will be a close game, but with the weather how it is in Ada in late October I would give the edge to a running team rather than a passing team.  As far as JCU and OTT, JCU has been playing inspired ball since the MUC game and I look for them to win as well, but again it will probably be a close game.  I would love to see the 3-way 9 - 1 tie to see how it shook out for the playoffs.  However, there are some games left to be played and you can't look far ahead in this league because nothing is sweeter than being the spoiler.

In the grand scheme of the weekends happenings, this probably isn't as exciting to most, but I am still going to post it.  With 6 seconds to go in the game, the clock running and no timeouts, on a fourth and goal from the half yard line, Vrable completed a bootleg to the TE to put Etta up 18-17.  Vrable had a school-record setting 58 pass attempts, completeing 33 of them, in the game and Musky again had the normal 3 pass attempts with one being intercepted.  Junior WR Nic North also set the school record with 14 catches in one game.

I want to send congrats to ONU for ending the streak, and a big congrats to MUC for building the streak.  What ever happened with the protest deal?  This really shakes things up.

I agree with whoever said Etta was in the same boat they were last year.  Started 2 - 0 and then had four tough games to contend with.  They didn't play well with JCU, played MUC like everyone else in the league, played OTT tough and was in the game with CAP until some mistakes cost them.  If you look at the schedule to the end of the season, Etta has just a good shot to go 6-4 again.  They play Musky this week which is always a tough contest, but Etta has found a way to win the rivalry the past 4 years.  Then you play Wilmington and a struggling BW team.  These games were both wins last year and could very well be again.  IF they win these 3, that puts them at 5-4 going into the ONU game, which they played very well last year and fell a TD short of the upset.  Even at 5-5, the program is still headed in the right direction.  On a sidenote about Curry, I don't think he is Garcon fast and was actually surprised to see him returning the ball because he hadn't previously done that.  However, the kid has improved tenfold from what he looked like his freshman year, less timid and trying to make the big plays.  I believe in his freshman year as well, he had the three longest receptions of the season for TD's.

If Pentello didn't attend any classes at Toledo, then my comments would be irrelevent regarding his eligibility.

As far as the eligibility stuff I wrote, I was just going off of what was written in the article about ONU.  I am sure you can find the article in the archives to double check and see if my interpretation was incorrect.  I didn't find this in any NCAA rule book or anything, but I may dig around a little today and see if I can find anything.
