Yikes 5-3-1 Messiah MUST win that conference tourney now

Still don't think they need to win their conference to get in. If they run the table and lose in the conference final that puts them at 15-4-1. That would be harsh for them not to get in with that record. Haverford, Hopkins, Dickinson already are close to 4 losses and a tie. The CC beats up on each other so I am gong to guess that those 3 teams will have 4 or more losses come NCAA's. I doubt a third CC team would get a bid over Messiah. Just my thoughts.

I know we discussed before the "process" of selecting teams, but based off assumptions that the CC gets at least 3 every year, that's where I am coming from with this one.

Still surprised that Etown won. I guess I shouldn't be though?  ;D

Yeah not sure how that works. I wonder who does the reporting on it and when it exactly gets lost in translation. If I was the AU coach I would be calling every day getting that fixed! That shouldn't happen at this level.

We are halfway into the season. Preseason games are irrelevant at this point in the season.

National list isn't up yet. In the URL you just have to change the numbers at the end for example http://www.nscaa.com/rankings/4474       will take you to the central poll
http://www.nscaa.com/rankings/4476       will take you to the great lakes
http://www.nscaa.com/rankings/4477        Mid-Atlantic

and so on.

When ever the national poll is updated it will be here

http://www.nscaa.com/rankings/4482

This is all fine and good but the record for Alfred University is all screwed up because someone doesn't know the difference between Alfred University and Alfred State College. For instance, Buffalo State is listed as having beaten Alfred University 2-0. AU never played Buffalo State in soccer. It was Alfred State. Further, AU is listed as having LOST to Elmira 3-0 on Sept. 22 then TYING Elmira on Sept. 26. It was Alfred State that lost to Elmira on Sept. 22.....AU and Elmira battled to a 3-3 tie on Sept. 26.

AU's current record is 6-1-2 with a 2-0 win AT Middle Atlantic ranked King's College last week. AU had a 4-4 tie with Oswego State and a 3-3 tie with Elmira. The Saxons' lone loss of the season was its opener against Geneva College, 3-2. Here's a link to their results: http://www.gosaxons.com/schedule.aspx?path=msoc

Not complaining about rankings here, in due time, AU will appear in the rankings. But if the rankings are based on misinformation, any consideration of Alfred will certainly be skewed when AU is credited with losses of the Alfred State men's soccer team across the street.

Alfred wouldn't be ranked. From the looks of their schedule they haven't played anybody worth noting. Maybe Geneva, which is their loss so that doesn't help their case. Geneva is RV regionally but not in the top 10 of a tough Great Lakes region. I wouldn't consider Kings a "good win." It's nice that it was on the road and that they got a shut out but other than that it's just a win against an average team. Elmira is obviously better than last year, but a 3-3 tie doesn't help their cause.

Looks like it's out of the Harrisburg region by 11am today. Etown historically has thicker grass so it might soak it up better than Messiah's grass would.

It's less than 12 hours until the Messiah/E-town Marshmallow Bowl and I haven't heard one E-town fan say "I've got a feeling . . . "  Can someone hook me up?  lastguyoffthebench?  EtownPride09?  BJBELIEVER?  bluejay4life?  Anyone?

Prediction:

Messiah 3
Etown 2

Overtime game. Slick playing surfaces. Should be a fun one!

Manhattanville 1, Merchant Marine 0.    I think they could knock off Eastern this Saturday...

Yes to that. They have quietly been flying under the radar all season. Only way they get in is by winning their conference. They could be the team to "shock" Eastern in conference playoffs again.

Games were postponed all throughout the region yesterday for all sports. Today won't be much better for teams that have grass fields. If anything it might be worse. It has been raining since yesterday morning all throughout PA and isn't set to stop until this afternoon. Will be interested to see how that affects the style of play for both teams in regards to traction, slipping, skipping of shots and passes, etc.

Kerr (Lycoming) transferred to UMBC after last season. UMBC was a D1 final four team last year. Has started every game this year for them.

Another head scratcher is Washington University (Mo.) being 14th in the NSCAA? Really? Why are they even ranked? There are 2 other UAA schools ranked behind them that are better!!! Crazy.

Also strange to see Etown receive votes in NSCAA this week but not last week? Would have flip flopped that if anything but I wouldn't have even given them a vote.

Messiah vs Etown tomorrow night at 7pm. Will learn a lot about both teams.

And yes to your TMC statement. Top 20 in my books. And 15 is the right spot for them in the NSCAA poll.
