On the D-line pass rush I am not super worried. I talked with Tom Lally on campus the other day. He didn't say anything about next year BUT while talking to him I realized how much bigger he was from when I had him in class as a Frosh. He easily put on 35-40 pounds. He is a stud on D and I think he just needs time to adjust to his body. He was lightening quick as a Frosh - add 40 pounds and you will lose speed and have to figure out how to do the things you used to do (we are all familiar with that I am sure).

Lally isn't the concern.  He's going to be fine.  It's the other 3 spots they need to figure out how to get more production out of.  They can't have another year like 2013 when it comes to the D line.

Dr. Acula,

Agree, I hope the Raiders have found some "big" athletic D linemen going forward. Small and fast is no longer going to get against playoff level teams with big athletic O lines. The current back-ups are probably the same smaller category.

I saw two excellent DE prospects at the Mount Union-Capital men's basketball game on Saturday. The Griffith boys from Jackson High School. They are both 6'3" 210-215,quick,athletic as hell, and really should go out for football next year. I can't wait to run into their dad.

Jamal Johnson is small, but he's an athlete.  He played both ways and was a player on both sides of the ball.

Can Grow, Get Stronger, Get Fitter and possible fit the 6' 4" 270+ OL/DL you are looking for.

Did some checking. Several of the MU recruits have played along with and against top D1 recruits and had several D2 offers.  Possible if these guys had the extra inches, they would be D1 too.  Funny how many of the 6-4's are really 6-2's.  If the 6-2's here are really 6-2 (or close), then not a bad start - with work - like K&J said.

2 more...

Kyler Shurlow   QB   6-1, 195  Lowell, MI
Troy Thomas   DE   6-2,  220   Walled Lake, MI

Charlie Dear, a LB from U-Toledo has transferred to Mount for the upcoming season.  LB is a strength.  But if you put him or Spencer on the line, the pass rush might improve.  Also recruit Boatright from Ontario was a superstar at the Massillon Sparq events in the past.  I would not be shocked to see him make a difference in year 1.

Dear is 6' 0" 218 and Spencer is 6' 0" 200.

Not really the size MTU needs on the DL.
