Well, the Family's alma maters came up empty in the College football playoffs this year:  Purple Raiders (3 grads); Buckeyes (1 grad); Penguins (1 grad) ... was really holding out for the 'Guins.
The others:  Kent State (2 grads ... mathematically eliminated in week #1); LSU-Shreveport (1 grad ... don't field a football program); and San Antonio Beauty College (1 grad ... the Wife makes me include this ... "Undefeated since..." (who gives a $#!+))
We did, although, enjoy a GREAT College football season.
Congrats to the UMH-B CRU!

I'm an engineering graduate of YSU.  They didn't have a football stadium when I went there.

Rumors abound that Jim Hilvert, current Lasalle (High School in Cincinnati) football coach and former Thomas More College head coach (6 league titles and a few playoff appearances), is a finalist at both John Carroll and BW.  Rumors also persist that BW is further down the path and likely to name a coach sooner rather than later.

Interesting!

Back before UC hired Luke Fickell there were rumors in Cincinnati that Jim Hilvert was a candidate for the UC head coaching job though I suspect being a great local HS who was won consecration state championships influenced those pushing for him.

Lately I've heard more about Jim Hilvert landing up at BW but I can see the JCU connection as well

I agree with the importance of the timing issue especially for JCU since Arth to a significant portion of his staff along with recruiting coordinator with him.  JCU as a school has a lot to sell to recruits, but you need an energetic staff with a vision and time to go out and build relationships with the local high school recruits.  I'm sure Arth already built that relationship with potential recruits but I'm not sure how much transfers with an almost completely new staff.

At JCU besides the need to quickly crank up player recruiting efforts, the other challenge for some one like Hilvert would be the need to quickly assemble coaching staff which has multiple openings which might be a challenge especially since he is coming from a HS position.  Hilvert just 3 years ago he was the winingest coach at the Thomas More so maybe he has some god connections.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out especially with JCU and BW possibly competing for candidates.

He's VERY well connected.  Additionally, He had some staff at TMC follow him to LaSalle and my guess would be taking a couple current TMC coaches with him.  Hopefully, the latter doesn't happen but those who play/coach with him are very, very loyal to him.

He'd be a home run hire.  I also had heard he was in the running at Cincinnati.

Boy, with his GCL in roads he'd be a slam dunk for JCU.  They already have a pipeline from Iggy.  Add some GCL kids too?  Scary.

Exactly.  He has already put a lid over the GCL once, while at TMC.  This was prior to coaching in that league at LaSalle.

Would catholic school connection make him more attractive to JCU?
I was thinking that as well. I know several players over the years who have gone to JCU. Many of them if not all had a Catholic connection. JCU is a natural for young men who attended Catholic HS and want to matriculate, the same.

Well deserved for total dominance at the D3 level , and teaching young men how to commit to each other towards a common goal. Raider fans and players are lucky for the Kehres legacy. Celebrate the achievement!

Seeing all the tweets from former players yesterday made me think that LK must truly cherish the love and respect his former players have for him.  It's impressive the level of admiration seemingly every guy has for him as adults.

Onward on, John Carroll

JCU to name their new coach Saturday . . . I don't know who but that is the expected announcement date.

Had to create an account just to say this, but Rick Finotti interviewed for JCU's position.

Yeaaa  for LK!  With numbers like his how can any sane person not vote for him? Its a proud day in Alliance for sure. But what about Billy Borchert? His numbers are pretty amazing also. We who saw him in action KNOW he belongs in the HOF as well. Next year will be just fine, it can give him time to write an acceptance speech. Lets make it an annual ritual.

In other Mount Union alumni news, it appears Ed Warinner has been relieved of Co-OC duties at Ohio State and  has taken the O-Line job with Coach Fleck at Minnesota.

After this season he and Tim Beck were gone.  Somebody was going to catch that grenade for the lackluster offense and Urban can't fire the head play caller (himself).  Both Co-OC's gone, a Co-DC gone...and they're probably not done yet.
