I didn't notice we were flipping pages so soon so I will post again.

My wife will run the pick-ems this year over on the pick-ems page for any of those interested. Talk anyone you can think of into doing the pick-ems this year...friends, family, co-workers, people you meet on the street.  HansenRatings is in, let's get some more.

Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

Co-Defending champions are probably obliged to defend.  I'm in.  DBQ1965?

By the way, I'll pick all DBQ until the final week, but then   GO DUTCH

Note, no new fangled C impersonation here, staying with the old logo.  Any Pella-cans find bootlegged old logo clothing for sale in town? ???

Any Dutch fans that read McMartins preview have to be a little excited,  He kind of shed his typical "play the game and see what happens" approach.  30+ seniors, including three 5th years  Sam Markham, Wes Wheat, and Tony Oros should make for a strong season.   Of course the 4 contenders all sound pretty salty.  Can't wait  GO DUTCH

Oh ye's ... I'm in for sure.  Those last 3 weeks of the IIAC season will be nerves-city for Spartan Nation.  FYI ...  Chris and I  are off in the wilds of northern lower Michigan camping next to the Lake Michigan shoreline and celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.   Still true to ourselves.  Oh ... did I  say Go Blue!
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

For anyone that is interested, the pick-ems start this week.  There is a Thursday game.  If you forget to post your pick-ems before Thursday we will still let you get your other picks in before the Saturday kick-offs, you'll just take a loss for the Thursday game.

Tell anybody you know about the pick-ems.  Would be nice to get some extra people doing the pick-ems this year.

Interviews the UD and Loras head coaches.
Stan Zweifel mentions for the next 4 seasons UD plays Wartburg/Coe/Central back-to-back-to-back.
Helminiak notes the Duhawks brought in 44-45 recruits this year for a roster around 100.

HansenRatings, take note...Stan Zweifel noted Bethel is ranked 21 and UD is ranked 23...He must be following your ratings  ;D  Also, Stan stated he thought Wartburg is the favorite in the conference.

Hmm... I've gotten a few retweets from the official UD account, so I figured they would at least have looked at the ratings, but I'm pretty surprised he would bring it up in an interview.

We have a few picks in already in the pick-ems,  There is a Thursday game this week.  Get them in now for all your picks to count.  If you are late, we just won't count the game or games that have already kicked off by the time you put yours in.

Voice of the Dutch

Can't wait for another year of IIAC football to get going.  Central offense promises to be explosive again this year.  Can they avoid critical turnovers in the big games?  Can the defense stop the big play?  Those will be the two keys all year to Dutch success.

With our weekly show with Coach McMartin, we've added in Facebook Live.  This first week was a bit sketchy as we had some technical issues with the video so it was shot off a phone and the audio isn't great.

Here is the link to the Central College Dutch Facebook if you want to check it out (scroll down for a couple of videos) -

https://www.facebook.com/CentralCollegeDutch/?ref=br_rs

We'll be doing Facebook Live at 7pm every Monday (except when there is no school (like Labor Day), as it will be pre-recorded), so when it's live we'd love to have you join in and will ask questions from viewers.  Should be fun and interactive!

Also - I know there are a few listeners on this board (and we greatly appreciate you listening and your feedback) - we recorded a new Castle and the Coach Podcast today.  IIAC talk starts around the 1 hour mark.

Listen to Central College football on 92.1 KRLS, www.kniakrls.com and the KRLS app.

Thanks for the links.  I always love listening to coaches shows.  The Castle and Coach podcast is also a favorite of mine.  I know you both are busy, but it would be nice if those became more regular.  Not too many places to get IIAC content out there.  Probably a good idea to come on here and remind us as well.  Old guys like me have a way of forgetting things ;)

I enjoyed the podcast mention that Stan Zweifel should call the IIAC office to complain that for the next 4 seasons Dubuque will have to play Wartburg/Coe/Central in consecutive weeks.  Also noted that HansenRatings got another shout out.  It seems the IIAC people have noticed his work.
