There are none. Max scholarships is 36. Minimum is 0.

Sorry, but I should mention that in order to be in Division II, you must offer a certain amount of scholarship money to athletics as a whole. It just doesn't have to be for football.

Pat, are the scholarships the same as Division 1 where you could only have 36 players on scholarship or could you split up the scholarship money and have 72 players each with a half scholarship?

.

As far as the loon from LaCrosse, he is entitled to his opinion.  I have a different one. Maybe he should call out the WIAC to step up and be a D2 league like some of the Michigan and Minnesota schools. I think that aligns them to apples to apples. This would allow them to compete against schools with the same advantages and disadvantages, IMO.

I know lots of people who have been calling for the WIAC to move up to D2 for quite a while now. The biggest obstacle is the state govenrment in Wisconsin. They would have to okay the move to D2 and I don't see that happening. With D2 comes more expenses and the schools have a tough enough balancing act as it is with trying to keep tuition somewhat affordable and yet fund what they are already doing. And I doubt the people of Wisconsin would be willing to foot the bill in additional taxes. Madison, Milwaukee, and Green Bay are the only schools allowed to be D1 in the UW system and Parkside is the only one that is allowed to be D2. And I doubt the WIAC schools would be willing to take on Division 2 without offering some scholarships.

I think more private schools from the area, especially Wisconsin should play the WIAC during the year but the challenge to the Midwest Conference is a little missed place. I wonder if this guy realizes that they only have one non-conference game and Carroll always schedules a CCIW school since they used to be in that conference so that only leaves four possible games form WI schools in the conference. The problem is the WIAC is too good for their own good. You want to play tougher competition to make yourself better but sending Beloit to play a team Stevens Point (middle of the pack WIAC team) isn't going to help anyone. Except for a St. Norbert or Monmouth or Ripon (who has played Oshkosh the past few years) most teams can't compete with the WIAC schools especially the upper level teams like Whitewater and Eau Claire. I'd say Concordia (WI) and Carthage and maybe Lakeland are the only teams in Wisconsin that are in any position to play a WIAC school after week 1. WLC and MBBC aren't going to have a chance.

Further proof that Dallas is an east coast city unfortunately trapped in the state of Texas. The University of Dallas Crusaders join the like of the Dallas Cowboys who play in the NFC East and the Dallas Desparados from the Arena Football League and are in the Eastern Division.

Carroll beat Beloit 10-0. Beloit played decent defense and Carroll was never able to get into an offensive rhythm.  Carroll's defense held the Bucs to 63 yards of offense. Beloit did make it to the CU one with about five minutes left and down 10-0 when they fumbled and that was the game.

Look who is joining the NEAC as an affiliate in 7 sports...

Dallas!

University of Dallas, located in Irving TX, not Dallas PA.
They must have hired the same guys who put the NFL Cowboys in a division with New York, Philadelphia, and Washington.

Time to change the conference name to the WhAC - the Wherever Athletic Conference.
As for Dallas in the NFL East, the Cowboys have been in the same division with the New York football Giants, da Skins and da Iggles since 1961.

Tradition!   ;)

Also when they realigned the division due to the merger with the AFL they had five different plans. The plan they selected was the only one that had Dallas in the East. The other four had them in either the Central or the West. All four plans that weren't selected also had Minnesota in the East.

Just another typical Carroll fan.  I don't know if we have ever had a level headed Carroll fan in here.  I can name plenty of others that several of the longer term members will remember such as William Wallace and his band of troops...

The best way to get Carroll talked about is to post regularly, not talk trash (unless it's about Ripon), and actually add to the conversation.  Unfortunately, all the Carroll fans want to do is whine, drink heavilly, and pretend that their team is better then one that has owned them at least in the MWC tournament.

In fact lets take a look at Lawrence vs Carroll since the 1999-2000 season shall we:
Jan 11, 2000  Lawrence 65, Carroll 63
Feb 14, 2000, Lawrence 72, Carroll 56
Jan 16, 2001, Carroll 83, Lawrence 70
Jan 30, 2001, Lawrence 79, Carroll 58
Jan 15, 2002, Lawrence 96, Carroll 91
Feb 13, 2002, Lawrence 81 Carroll 68
Jan 21, 2003, Carroll 94, Lawrence 87
Feb 15, 2003, Lawrence 83, Carroll 77
Jan 7, 2004, Lawrence 61, Carroll 60
Feb 14, 2004, Lawrence 76 Carroll63
Feb 28, 2004, Lawrence 82, Carroll 71 (MWC Tournament)
Jan 18, 2005, Lawrence 80, Carroll 72
Feb 19, 2005 Carroll 58, Lawrence 54
Feb 25, 2005, Lawrence 87, Carroll 76 (MWC Tournament)
Jan 18, 2006, Lawrence 86, Carroll 81
Feb 15, 2006, Lawrence 64, Carroll 63
Feb 25, 2006, Lawrence 68 Carroll 62 (MWC Tournament)
Jan 27, 2007 Carroll 72, Lawrence 45
Feb 17, 2007, Carroll 76, Lawrence 63
Feb 2, 2008 Carroll 115, Lawrence 113
Feb 23, 2008, Lawrence 92, Carroll 80
March 1, 2008, Lawrence 98, Carroll 95 (MWC Tournament)

Final Record:
Lawrence 16-6 against Carroll since 1999-2000 season including 4-0 in the MWC tournament.  Yes Carroll has won 3 of the last 4 regular season games between the two schools, but still hasn;t gotten over the rather large hump that is beating them in the MWC tournament.

Oh well..maybe he will actually decide to come back and man up once the season nears closer...but I don't find it too likely.

I'm fairly level headed, I just don't talk a lot. My problem is I can't get to enough games because of Track.

I added the WIAC schools. Since there aren't enough icons to do a different one for each conference I decided to color code them based on region. I am working on it right now but probably won't finish since I have practice soon.

The Bears used to have training camp at Carroll back in the day.

My dad also has to wear the rivals colors when he comes to my races.

as an adament Packer fan and a student at Carroll (I don't play football, I run cross country) I have to point out that the logos are different. if you get an official Chicago Bears "C" and an official Carroll University "C" next to each other you will see a slight difference. there was an article in our student newspaper a year or two ago that went into great detail describing the differences. plus I think Chicago's blue is a little darker than ours.

I was at a McDonalds today in Lomira, Wisconsin which is about 45 minutes north of Milwaukee. I saw a guy in a Middlebury shirt.

I think Northwestern would have to go undefeated. It is a nice nonconference schedule but I think the lack of strength in the UMAC would drag them down. I think if they go undefeated they should have a chance at a Pool B. There won't be a concrete reason to keep them out of the playoffs.

I'm pretty sure it was before WLC and MSOE moved to D3. If I remember correctly they and the majority of their conference left the NAIA in the mid 90s.

It's not a rule but if Roop thinks Carroll and Lawrence should head to D2 because of their "University" names be prepared St. Norbert in the same boat soon.
