That's okay. There is only one "real" Grand Rapids and it's over here!  Just kidding!  :) I thought he was from over this way, but being a Johnnie, I should have figured he was from MN.  Regardless, the weather report is the same as what we get/are getting here is coming from MN.  Anyway, the best wishes for safe travel and a good visit "back home" remain the same.
Forecast for Friday night in the real Grand Rapids: -15.  Friday in the Michigan Grand Rapids: a tropical high of 47/low 31.

Many of us are NDSU fans as they draw a lot of players from Minnesota. What a dynasty they have going up there.

Actually, the current forecast is higher for the former, and lower for the latter. However, we all know the weather forecasters are very often wrong and the predictions tonight can and probably will change by Saturday. There is prediction of snow, though. Regardless, it is likely to be cold(er) Saturday. But, personally, I never believe the weather forecasters and I just wait and see what happens and deal with it when it happens!🥶🥵🙂

I think you might have mixed up the Grand Rapids when you tried to look up the forecast.  Looking at the temps for Southern Michigan, I don't know if you can really call that winter.  Michigan Rapids is often 40 degrees warmer.

I'm sure most of you will be watching the CFP FBS National Championship game next week.  However, will any of you be taking in the upcoming FCS National Championship?  James Madison gets a chance to add another national football title, however, it will likely be tough against the multi-champion North Dakota State.

These two more playoff games are left aside from the usual college all-star games before I get the "football withdrawal symptoms. :("

Illinois State alum here, will be watching the go&&am Bizen go for another crown.  ISU played them to a 9-3 game in the Fargodome in the quarterfinals, and we had a fumble recovery TD called back by replay.  Sigh.  And of course they "stole" the championship from us in the 2015 game, scoring in the last couple minutes of the game to snatch it away.

So, can't decide whether to root for JMU to put the hurt on the Bizen, or root for our conference mates and turds who've pounded us into the ground so many times!!  ;)

So all federal workers here in DC were just sent home due to a snow emergency. It's in the mid-thirties with moderate snow; tomorrow it all will have melted. I don't understand this town sometimes.

In my year in DC had to pick up friends from the airport during "a winter storm" ... left early to avoid beltway nightmare. Ended up having the freeway literally to myself as 1/2 inch of snowfluries fell and the DC hordes emptied out the bread and milk from every grocery store.  ::)

Actually, I didn't mix up the Grand Rapids!  Of course, MN winters are usually worse than Michigan:s (except for our U.P.  and Mackinac).  Down state this way ( Muskegon/Grand Rapids/Holland region) anything from the single digits to below the 40s is considered cold including with any amount of snow. The initial reports I heard/saw the other day from sources in our area suggested that both this region and MN were for anything from the low teens to high 30s (not the tropical 40s you mention🙂), plus there is supposed to be cold and winds, thus my original suggestion it was supposed to be the same. To me (and others around here) that is winter, but certainly not and admittedly not comparable to what MN gets.
However, as I already mentioned, we all know those weather reports change on a daily basis. But, enough of this, it is all a mute point. Suffice to say it will be cold enough here for most of us! Time to move on to a different topic.

Hope you're enjoying the wintery weather - ha! Glad to hear you and yours are fine with all the fires.

Thanks, art. Yeah, all good. We've had a couple days so far that are below freezing. Oh, the wailing.  Wait until they get up north to Grand Rapids. I'm already smiling as I think about the wailing then.

OzJ, glad to hear all is well. I also wondered about how you and family were with regard to those horrendous fires going on.  If your family is here now, they might hit it at just the right time.  Grand Rapids/Holland/Muskegon had a heavy snow last week for two days (actually an overnight).  Most of that has melted by now with some milder temps, however, it started getting colder yesterday and some lake effect flurries have started today.  The weather people are reporting that more snow enough for a shoveling is scheduled for this weekend.  Anyway, hope they have a good visit and safe travel.

Oz is from the good Grand Rapids, the one in MN.   ;)
Does that make him the Judy Garland of the board?  :)

Having never met Oz in person, that's quite a stirring visual image - Now I just can't un-see him wearing glittery ruby red shoes.  :D
