One of Caputi's predecessors had Waterfield. And as a small sweetener Waterfield had Russell.

Go Continentals!

Football season in the northeast is amazing!  All of the NESCAC schools are beautiful and it's a great weekend travelling anywhere in the conference.  I'd say tufts, the New Haven schools and then Hamilton have the most in terms of hotel options.  Hint to everyone...Start making your reservations...the 2013 season is here!!!

Welcome aboard Hamilton supporter.   Interesting perspective you have  :).
I will be in Clinton for the game on the 21th....cannot image that there are extensive hotel rooms nearby...pretty hamlet though.

Doesn't Hamilton itself offer lodging to the public? If so, the lodging probably fills early for football weekends.

Go Continentals!

With two casinos nearby, the cities of New Hartford, Rome, Utica, Vernon within 10 miles and bed & breakfasts next to campus, there is a complete range of lodging selections for visitors.  Oh, there is also a small hotel on campus!  But, that tends to book up early.

I'm looking forward to the game.  Amherst always fields a good team.  So, naturally, I'm hoping for an upset!  Hamilton is still fielding a young team but they finally have hit the point where they have over 70 players.

Final score Butler 49, Wittenberg 24.  Butler is ranked 96th in the FCS, Wittenburg is ranked #10 in D3.

It's always hard to know exactly what those teams have. I expect now that the Pioneer League has an AQ to the FCS playoffs, that entire conference is going to be able to raise its game, even without scholarships.

It used to be that many FCS non-scholarship teams were within reach of Division III programs, but the ones that were beatable have gradually dropped the sport over the past decade. There's no Iona, St. Peter's, La Salle, etc., for us to kick around anymore.

Agree Pat...the very best D3 teams can still handle the weakest FCS teams.  I live in Princeton, NJ and the common (incorrect) thinking around here is that Ivy League football is barely better than high school football, when in fact almost all of the Ivy League teams are in the upper half of the FCS.

There are currently 122 schools in the FCS, and currently no Ivy League school is ranked in the top 25 of the FCS by the NCAA.

And your point is? That wasn't the claim being made.

Google NCAA FCS Rankings.

I said they were in the top half...not top 25.  Besides, since the Ivy's don't participate in the playoffs, the AP voters don't like voting for them in the top 25.
