It's my understanding the WARHAWKS began practices yesterday.  I would assume the others have begun as well.

Yes, I saw pictures on Twitter.  I don't know if WW is still in tryout mode, but they had 23 guys practicing.  That seems a lot higher than normal to me considering there isn't a JV.

Clearly Oshkosh is the favorite.  But any sense who #2 and #3 are going in?

I've seen tweets earlier that had 14 players included...

Ethan Bublitz SR
Brandon Spray SR
Matt Koerner SR
Aaron Knez SR
Blake Ehrke SR
Garrett Nelson JR
Brady Wagner JR
Zach Mootz SO
Peter Timmermann SO
Mayson Hazaert FR
Kaden Clark FR
Jevan Sachtjen FR
Mysterious Freshman from Pewaukee
Beau Rosenthal -not sure what grade he will be

Maybe a couple players already quit...we will see the roster shortly.

UWEC's roster, not everyone has numbers but you can see who is on the team.  They have a lot of newcomers, including a Concordia-St Paul/Univ of North Dakota transfer in Carter Brooks.  He should provide some instant impact.

I was able to figure out who the freshman from Pewaukee is for UWSP.  Isaac Woelffer, a 6'5" Forward, I'm not expecting him to log many important minutes for the UWSP program by doing some digging.

Semling and Hockett better hit a homerun and then maybe a grand slam on the 2020 recruiting trail.

Coach: Because we're the National Champions.

Student athlete: Ok.

If Oshkosh has sustained success, then maybe they have an argument... but one is just a blip.

Also, Quandt is a much better place to play than the Kolf... It's impossible to fill up that barn (even with well-traveling visitors) and even when it's packed, it doesn't feel like it is because it's so huge.

Point averaged 1139 (roughly half full) per game in attendance last year with an 18-9 team that didn't make the NCAA tournament. Oshkosh averaged 655 (1/10th full?) per game in a year that they were coming off of a National runnner-up finish and won the National Title.

Plus, Point was the last team to beat Oshkosh (and by 20, at home) before they went on their run (or which allowed them to go on their run...). So, you're welcome, Oshkosh, for perspective and the National Title!

(most of this is in jest... but the stats presented above don't lie).

Ryan's right, though. If a prospect asks a coach over the course of the next five months why he should enroll at the coach's school in 2020-21, the only coaches in D3 who are entitled to reply, "Because we're the national champions," are Matt Lewis of UWO and his assistants Casey Korn and Peter Thaus.

I doubt that that bit of dialogue has ever taken place with regard to a WIAC school, though, at least in terms of in-state kids. Any Wisconsin kid who's ever been recruited by a WIAC coach the year after a national championship's gotta already be aware of that national championship. Everything that I've ever heard from Wisconsinites indicates to me that the WIAC is a familiar brand to in-state high school basketball players.

Feel free to disagree with me about that in-state awareness if you like, though. After all, what do I know? I'm just a FIB. ;)

Obviously with my post, I am running an inside joke...with myself due to the fact Point won the big one in 2005, 2010 and 2015. So, naturally, they're due this season, 2020.

Point has also been known, or seems to be, to recruit late, so this conversation obviously takes place after Point wins the National Championship next March!

Neither UWSP nor anybody else will be winning a national championship next March. So the question is, would that conversation ever take place after April 5, which is when the 2020 D3 national championship game will be held in Atlanta?

Picky picky!

Maybe the NCAA will save some money and give the title to them in March, saves them paying for a  trip to Atlanta.
