Olivet has two more Marygrove transfers in the fold

Angus Bennet  6-7  F/C    Jackson/Kzoo Valley CC/ Marygrove
Sirafino Davis 6-8  F/C  Grand Blanc/Tiffin/Marygrove

Both of these guys were full time starters at Marygrove though Davis was not on last years roster.  OC twitter also has Davis coming from Tiffin Univ(d2) but he doesn't appear on any past stat sheets.

OC twitter also tweets out the 17-18 recruiting class is "finished"   .......but I see at least a dozen more former Mustangs that need a home. ;)

I wonder how many of Olivet's 19 recruits will be at the school for the second semester?

And finally someone says what we've all been thinking  ;D

It's certainly a valid point.

The above highlighted comments by KnightSlappy, sflzman, and Fifth & Putnam, seem to suggest that an appropriate home for several of the mustangs might be a stable. The whole business of a mass transfer of former NAIA players to Olivet gives off an odor that often wafts from within such an enterprise. 🐴 😷

Don't think this has been posted previously - in fact I only looked online today because we got our season ticket info in the mail yesterday and it included the schedule:

http://athletics.hope.edu/sports/mbkb/2017-18/schedule

With a quick glance at this and the women's schedule, it would appear there are no (zero) men's / women's double headers for Hope this year.

Can't remember if this was posted,  Kzoo schedule  http://hornets.kzoo.edu/sports/mbkb/2017-18/schedule

What is going on with MIAA basketball dates that's causing a simple double round robin  to have 5 away games and 5 home games in each half of the rotation.  Unless dates are being changed for scheduling conflicts this shouldn't be happening.

As it turns out these two things are related.  It seems the MIAA (coaches mostly) has decided to schedule games in a way that avoids as many men's/women's double-headers as possible.  That is difficult to do with 9 women's and 8 men's teams.  The result  of avoiding those games is what you see with Kzoo's men's schedule having 5 away games the 2nd half of the MIAA season.   I'm told this schedule will rotate among the teams from year to year.

With how often MIAA scheduling ideas have changed recently, who knows how long this lasts.

Also it was inferred to me that it might be possible to see Hope v Calvin both played on Wednesday nights in the future.

Seems doubtful given the watch parties.
One Mississippi, Two Mississippi...

Not sure Hope or Calvin would have a say in the matter.  Just passing on how it was inferred to me, not saying it will happen. :)

Jalen Adams - A SR transfer from St. Bonaventure. 2-time All-A10 First Team selection.

Olivet is going to fun to follow this year.

Wrong player. Jalen Adams is from Wayne State.
http://www.wsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=7700

I believe this Jalen Adams has gone from St. Bonaventure to Mott CC to Wayne State (and now Olivet).

St. Bonaventure currently has a Jaylen Adams who has made all-conference.

Ooops. Wow that's confusing...and quite the coincidence.

Yikes! If he's on his fourth school since high school, rather than Olivet, he should be heading to a powerhouse institution farther west. They love student-athletes athlete-students who have already made THREE different stops before arriving at Athletic University. Plus, unless he's going to Olivet for free, he probably could save a little $.  ::)  8-)

Jalen Adams red-shirted his first year at St. Bonaventure, before the start of his next season he broke his foot and fought back to play in 14 games for the Bonnies unfortunately his playing time dried up and he transferred to Mott CC in Flint where he only had one year of JC eligibility due to playing one year at St. Bonaventure.  After Mott he went to Wayne State where it appears he played limited minutes in half their games, I can't account for his reason for transferring away from Wayne State, perhaps injury played a role again.

Jalen Adams was named 2nd team All-State in Class A in 2013 by Steven Bell at bankhoops.com

Verbalcommits.com has 6-8 C Nathan Kellum of Northville, MI transfering to Albion from D2 Notre Dame of Ohio.

Kellum played quite a bit as a Fr appearing in 27 games averaging around 9 minutes, he only logged 8 games last year.   I might say he's  a similar player to Albion's Kirk Douglas but no one in the MIAA saw Douglas play last year and thats mostly a guess on my part.  If Albion gets a healthy 6-7 Caden Ebeling and 6-8 Kirk Douglas back from injury they could have a pretty solid front court.
