Can anyone explain why E&H doesn't do the postgame handshake line?  I don't see every E&H game, so I assume what I witnessed last November is the norm.  Sorry, but I don't like it.

I appreciate the input. The only reason I said, "RMC and everyone else" was solely on the conference records, as I stated earlier. I said, "top two guys" because I was using the top two scorers that those teams were losing. I do know that RMC return their top two scorers, but also lose four of their next five guys. As I said, I appreciate the input and that's what I wanted. I'm not very familiar (obviously) with the ODAC but was impressed with both Guilford and RMC. I'm not sure Guilford would've received a Pool C had they lost in the conference tournament, but I'm leaning towards yes. Thanks again.
Thanks.  Guilford lost a couple of conference games they probably should have won, but you're right, we finished second with a 12-4 record.  I'm not sure we would have gotten a Pool C bid, so I was sweating it.  Winning the ODAC tournament, fortunately, took that off the table.  The Quakers definitely got better as the season went on.

I'm trying to get a read on next year. Is it still RMC and everyone else? They seemed to dominate (record-wise) and return their two top players, but do lose 3 starters, if I'm correct. Lynchburg, Guilford, Wash & Lee and Roanoke all lose their top 2, so VWC look likely to improve and make a run at RMC or a Pool C?

It wasn't R-MC and everyone else in the season just ended. R-MC did not have a top two players. ODAC POY Buzz Anthony is back, but the rest of the team will overall be less experienced. I think Guilford, which barely lost to national champs UW-Oshkosh in the elite eight, is the team to beat next season.
If you say Guilford lost their top two, then that implies Kyler Gregory was number three.  Gregory was a force all year and definitely got better in late season games.  Ward, Gore and others were a key part of the Quakers' postseason run.  Guilford will be one of the favorites next year and not one of the "everyone else".  Let me remind you, Guilford beat RMC both games played in 2018-2019.  One game was close, but the ODAC tournament win made a statement.

A Monday evening game during Macon's January term (1/31/05). On top of that, Guilford was not having a very good season, so there would have been little excitement about the game.  The shot won the game in OT, 91-89.
Thanks for looking it up.

So how many times in the gym did he practice that shot only for a coach to tell him to stop throwing up stupid full court shots that would never happen in a game?  lol  ;).......this must of been a long time ago never seen Crenshaw that empty!
I think it was a J-term game in very early January 2005.

Kimbrough was the point guard on the Guilford team that made it to the NCAA Elite 8 in 2007.

As a freshman in 2005, he appeared in this video (#13) that has been viewed more than 11 million times ....
And now over eleven million and one and I'm probably 99 of those hits.  It never gets old for Guilford fans.  Thank you, Jordan Snipes!  Another amazing thing about this:  he recreated it for a local TV crew back in Greensboro on the first try!

Anyone have a bit more info on Kimborough?  Interested in hiring a guy with a losing record, but it appears his 24-27 record the previous 2 seasons is more wins than Huntingdon had in the previous 4 13 wins this year being the most they have had in a decade......but just trying to understand what we might see from Tiger Basketball in the immediate future.
Don't let the record at Huntingdon sway you.  He was hired as an assistant at Huntingdon in 2016 with the understanding that he would be the HC in a year when the then HC retired.  However, he inherited an 0-10 team when his predecessor abruptly left in mid-year.  He finished that season 2-13, but his records the next two years at Huntingdon were great by their historical standards.  He was a winner in HS at Chapel Hill, at Guilford and paid his dues for a year with the Washington Generals, a year as an assistant at W&L, six years as an assistant to Tom Palombo at Guilford and the last three seasons at Huntingdon.  He made the NCAA tournament his last two seasons at Guilford and was a middle school through college teammate with former National POY Ben Strong.  His career overlapped for two seasons with former National POY and current Ferrum HC Tyler Sanborn.  I think HSC made a fine choice.

Guilford schedule is posted.   Four home and four away in the ODAC, but both out of conference games (Huntingdon and Methodist) are away.  No home game until September 28 and it's Homecoming . strongly dislike this schedule's timing.  Open with W&L and close with BC instead of E&H in conference.

Caleb Kimbrough was Ben Strong's teammate from middle school through college.  He was a rare four year starter for Coach Palombo at Guilford where he was the point guard who got tons of assists and could score when needed.  He was with the Washington Generals for a year, an assistant at W&L for a year, then an assistant to Coach Palombo at Guilford for six years.  Starting in 2016, he was to be an assistant for a year at Huntingdon before assuming the HC job, but unexpectedly inherited the team mid-year with an 0-10 record.  He was a winner as a player, as an assistant coach and has taken Huntingdon to a winning record.

I'm nervous about this hire. If HSC does not get this right HSC basketball might never return to its glory days. HSC has been bad for quite awhile, fallen from one of the best in ODAC to one of the worse quickly under past leadership. Right person needs to sit in the seat.
I personally hope HSC gets a good coach and returns to prominence.  It just isn't the ODAC when a game vs the Tigers is considered almost a sure win.  It hurts the crowd enthusiasm, the gate and the rivalries.  The ODAC needs you to be competitive!

And I forgot, grats to both RMC and GC. Thanks for representing the ODAC so well. Get better and to the final four next year.

I guess I will be pulling for CNU to bring the trophy back to Virginia.

Until Salem lost the FF to Ft. Wayne, the trophy came back to Virginia EVERY year! ;D
Well, yeah, but you know what I meant.  lol

I got the Guiford info from Titan TV! H!ey Titan TV you did a great job on both games

I agree. Great job!

Yikes!!! The guy and the girl????  You guys ara too kind to your locals. The guys that did the Augie Wheaton game were outstanding.  I had to turn the audio of the Oshkosh game off....just my humble opinion.

Me too. They were awful. The announcers they had for when UWSP played at UWO during the WIAC tournament (not sure if it was the same duo or not) were brutal too.

They were the same and I have to agree though I'd probably tone down the "brutal" thing a tad.  After all they're broadcasters in training.  They definitely could have been more prepared for the first game.
Was it me or were there no live stats last night?

The comment she made about the NAIA changing into NCAA DIII had me checking to see if I missed something important today.
I heard that too she had no idea that NAIA still exists and has its own championships.

Amazing season for Guilford! Congrats on a fabulous year!
Thanks, it was.  As a native Virginian, I am  now rooting for the Captains!  Go CNU!

Speaking of the Guilford/UW-O game, the Titans are a fine team with considerable height.  The Quakers have also benefitted from the home court in the past, but I really wish all Sweet 16 games and beyond were played on neutral courts it does make a difference.  Quakers fans thought GC had taken the lead at 67-66 with a basket and one, but the hoop was waved off and a foul called on Guilford.  Marcus Curry, who rarely gets over 2 fouls was limited to 22 minutes and 4 points he fouled out and spent most of the second half on the bench.  It was a shame.

With that said, however, congratulations to the Titans.  They are a formidable team.  Go Thunder!  lol
