The Quakers are only 4-3, 2-1, but I still say they will be a contender in the ODAC this year.  All three losses were on the road - the first in a day game in Florida to an NAIA #6 the day after an OT night game, the second to a DI team, and the third to a W&L team that couldn't miss.  Except for the surprising (to me) loss to the Generals, I think the team is where I expected them to be at this juncture.  No one seems to mention Guilford, but I think you should.  They may not win the ODAC this year, but they WILL help decide it.

Jacketlawyer - Not sure this will make you feel any better, but both Albright and Wilkes have good records.  Albright is 5-2 and Wilkes is 6-1.  For your future reference, you can go to the first screen in d3hoops.com, click on a region, select men or women, then access individual schools.  You can track conference standings, a school's overall record/schedule and scores of each game.

Thanks, Hasanova.  Yeah, I knew that, but have been so busy with work, I haven't had time to examine them, or even go there on the web.  I depend on people like you to keep me in line! :D

Even though those two schools have good records, we do, too, though I can only hope we play Lincoln better this time.
I understand -sometimes I have time to look & sometimes I don't.  :)  Good luck to the Jackets versus the Lions the second time around!

Hasanova et. al.,

Upon thinking long and hard about my acceptance speech, I have decided to simply point out that I correctly answered the "quiz" questions before > (the artist formerly known as STH among other things) and am therefore super intelligent since we have all seen his report card! ;D  Therefore, no acceptance speech is required and this will be the end of the conversations!

On a side note Hassanova, I, too, was a math major.  I doubled in math and history at HSC, the team that will win tonight's game.  Now I am off to listen to the game since I can't make it to Fleet tonight.
Math & Econ majors here - then grad school in Business.  Congratulations to the Tigers on another victory.  Yes, you were first!

Lincoln is 7-2 with road losses to Albright 97-96 on Nov. 22 and to Wilkes in OT last night 107-99.  After last night's loss, I would imagine the Lions might drop down some from 17th.

Whoa, did NOT know that, Hasanove.  Feel a bit better, although they cuffed us around pretty well back in November.  Most of the students will be gone for Christmas so there won't be the normal crowd.

Randolph-Macon moves up to #11 in the most recent D3hoops poll.  HSC moves up to #21 !!

And the Lincoln Lions, who visit Ashland this week, move up to #17.

Congrats to us. . . . I think.  Right now, I'd have to say the undefeated teams should be ranked higher than that.  Is Lincoln still undefeated?

How do you think she measures up with RMC's Silva?
I think it's too early to say since she's a freshman, but I'd definitely give the edge to Silva right now.  Forty-four is a great total under any circumstances, but for now I attribute much of this game to the modified run & gun "system" ball E&H was playing.  Once you break their press, there are a lot of lay-ups.  I believe Eliis was 18 of 22 overall (mostly in the paint), 1 for 1 on three-pointers and 7 of 8 on FT's.   If she has some more games like this versus other competition then I think you can more clearly begin to see how she stands.

CBE - Thanks for the update on Kiffin.  I knew he had moved around a lot, but it was worse than I thought!  He's been in Tampa a while, however, so maybe he bought a house this time.  :)

Which MLB Manager said "a Manager is hired to be fired!"? ...

Well, among others, it was said by Yogi Berra about being fired by the Yankees:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/news/1999/07/18/yogi_day_ap/

This specific reference was about the way he was terminated...
Thanks.  Billy Martin could probably have also commented on this.  He was fired by the Yankees more than once.  :)

Hassanova et. al,

I am currently attempting to determine the best way to celebrate and am in the process of writing an acceptance speech.  I will get back with you on that. ;)

As far as basketball and equations, I would recommend using a parabolic equation to mimic the trajectory of a basketball.  They are commonly used to determine length of time and distance that a football would travel.  The direction would be a little harder though and may require dabbling into vectors and physics.  I think I have thought too much and will now refrain from using math above a 3rd grade level when analyzing basketball.
I am not a physicist, but I believe you are on the right parabolic track.  One of my majors was Math, so I'm sure about what I gave you so far.  :)  Now, as far as your acceptance speech goes, why not do both the yin and the yang of >, the poster formerly known as STH?  Confused?  Allow me to explain.  First, "less is more," which is the absolute opposite of >'s style.  Second, go with the power of >.  Therefore, I give you your acceptance speech:

i>y'all[/size]

A simple mathematical truth that unequivocably states your superiority.
Purple to signify your holy status and god-like aura (a god, not the God).
Finally, it pays a dutiful and respectful homage to the ODAC's southern roots.

Get back to me.    :)

hasanova - that's terrific. Congratulations to Brian Hamilton. As always and at this time of the year, I have basketball on the brain, so I naturally thought........
Well, it is a basketball forum - I need to follow Coach Coleman's instructions and stay on topic!  lol  Now, let me ponder your hypothesis on a made three-pointer ...  let's see ... a2 + b2 = c2, so the angle of the dangle at the point of release times the rotation speed squared will be ...  lol  ;)

That's his name McCain. His counterpart over at UNC (Torbush) was a great guy too. Talked to him a couple of times. That's why they got whacked. Nice guys. Tough business

There is an answer to that problem?  ;)
Yep, it is a tough business.  Torbush and O'Cain are both good guys, but you have to win and go to the postseason - especially at DI.  Which MLB Manager said "a Manager is hired to be fired!"?  He knows he will be, he just doesn't know when.  lol  I heard another former Wolfpack Coach's name during the TB/Carolina NFL game yesterday.  Remember Monte Kiffin?  He an Assistant Coach for the Bucs.

Yes, there is an answer to the Math/Physics riddle.  All posters who check the basketball posts to which I referred shall see the light.  :)

You're right. McK did not play. He got caught in the middle of the release of (I feel bad forgot his name, a real nice guy) and the present coach at NCSU.

Okay the answer is Force= 5g X 187miles per second squared?. Let's see since your mass will increase as speed increases you will never reach the speed of light because your mass just keeps getting bigger. Damn you. ;) :)
Sounds good, but see Men's South Region ODAC Basketball posts 1072-1073.  Merry Xmas to you!  :)

You're right about Chris McKinney's situation at State.  I believe the NCSU Head football coach at the time was Mike O'Cain through the 1999 season and then Chuck Amato beginning in 2000.

hasanova -

your formula describes the three point shot: energy/circumference + velocity and trajectory + rotation = speed that determines distance over which sphere travels and with exactly the correct amount of force and acceleration. The results are a made 3 point shot.
Sounds good, lol, but I had a more seasonal message in mind - see Brian Hamilton's analysis and my response in Posts 1072-1073.  Happy Holidays!

Hassanova,

I'll take a shot!

M (from Einstein's Theory of Relativity)

Euler's Number (better known as e)

r squared is all I came up with - No clue, but I assume it's radius squared!

y

x

m (mass)
He shoots - it rolls around the rim and it drops through - he scores!  lol  In order: yes - m; yes - e; so close, but r2 also equals "rr"; yes- y, yes - x, yes - mass ..... so,

Merry Xmas(s) to you!  :)

From Pat C
"He definitely transferred...and the rest of the story seems correct based on my recollection of a conversation with Coach Kiesel.

The whole transfer situation can be summed up in the name of a horse that runs in Philly...

Sumgotitsomedontido..."

Vogelbach yea..... And let's hope he stays there. Vogelbach is one of 2 D1 guys to transfer to GC that were tops in the game. One being Mr Glidomatic....(Kinney) the best reciever "I" ever saw in the ODAC. I am sure many arguments will be made but I said I.

Skoal my man....you live.
abnrgr - How right you are!  I also saw McKinney play and he was great, as partially evidenced by his NCAA-record five punt returns for TDs in one 10-game season!  Just like Vogelbach at ECU, however, I don't believe Chris ever played a down in a game for the Wolfpack at NCSU.
