I reviewed the June, 2017 meeting report of the DIII Championships Committee, and in that report, the Championships Committee did not approve the request of the Women's Basketball Committee to impose a .500 or better requirement on Pool B candidates.

I knew I read it somewhere.. thanks deis.

Looking forward to seeing your men's soccer program in action this weekend, BTW.

Thanks, I appreciate it.  Now to see if I can install the NCAA Sports app on my prepaid smartphone to watch the soccer games, since the Amazon App store does not offer it.

Don't need the app if you have a link to the game(s), I believe. But I hear ya.

The app is not needed if you are watching the games on a laptop. If you have a mobile device that has Google play or the Apple Itunes app store, you will need the NCAA Sports app to get video for the national semifinals and championship games in both soccer and basketball, but the app is available easily.  Links are fine on the Fire tablet for live stats.  However, links for video will not work directly on a Fire tablet (which I use) as the NCAA tells you that you need the NCAA Sports app to watch the game on a mobile device, and the Amazon app store only offers the March Madness app.  It is possible to download the app from an outside source, but I have never done it, and I do not want to risk making my tablet unusable.

Caz Bombers

so which would the committee be more likely to favor here, the SOS of the Banana Slugs or the Kangaroos actually being over .500 vs. D3?

UCSC is probably the better team with reasonable margins of defeat to some pretty strong D3 squads, while Canton is the 1 in Potsdam's 1-20.

Canton and UMPI join the Pool A NAC next season to drop this list to 8 schools, what is the threshold to re-allocate the bid from Pool B to Pool C?

At least the tournament field is gonna get a great nickname out of it.

The women's basketball committee actually wanted a requirement that all Pool B candidates be .500 or greater vs D3 to be picked-- or the bid would be given to Pool C for that year if no Pool B candidates met the .500 threshold v D3, but the DIII Championships Committee rejected that request last June.  So, that Pool B bid will not be reallocated to Pool C on that basis.

However, in that request, we have a good idea that the women's basketball committee will prefer the winning pct be over .500 when they make their selection.

The new conference teams (America East, I believe), will be added to Pool B next year for both men and women until the AQ comes through in a couple years.

The new conference is actually Atlantic East.  America East is in Division I.

The access ratio is currently 1:9.907-- 426 teams are in the 43 conferences that have AQs.

Also, won't Thomas More also be in Pool B next season as a result of leaving the PAC?

Caz Bombers

thanks, folks. I forgot about The New Conference/Atlantic East and the Thomas More situation. TMC will probably lock down Pool B for a while, or maybe an Atlantic East team will have a great season. Either way, I think this March will be the last of the "what the heck are they doing here" teams.

Remember, the access ratio is a moving target each year. Based on the number of teams and AQs as you mentioned, so that number could slide a bit next year. In mean, the number is lower.

Yes, Thomas More will be a Pool B next year and will remain there until either they get into a conference or move on.
