In terms of a national profile the match-up between Wisconsin Lutheran and Montclair State is a big one.

Montclair has won its conference the last four years and was ranked in the Top 25 to start the season. The Red Hawks graduated a lot, but they are still a quality program and I'd be surprised if they don't break into the NCAA Atlantic Region Rankings when we get to February.

If the Warriors can beat Montclair State convincingly, that will catch people's eye. The win over Calvin is also a good one, especially if you compare the margin of victory (+14) to the Knights' game with Top 15 ranked Trine (+12). Of course Wisconsin Lutheran also has to beat an FDU-Florham team that's in transition after losing its coach and best players to Division I.

And WLC does just that.....

Wisconsin Lutheran 12 16 20 10: 58
Montclair State 6 14 15 12: 47

Warriors led wire to wire in this game.

Wisconsin Lutheran 10 18 10 20: 58
FDU-Florham: 6 7 19 17: 49

WLC withstood a second half charge from the Devils to end the Florida trip 2-0. I do believe this breaks the record for best start in program history as well with the Warriors going to 9-0.

Couple of big games in the conference title race this weekend, with Benedictine at WLC tonight and Lakeland at CUW tomorrow afternoon. By Saturday night, the Warriors could be firmly in the driver's seat, or it could get real interesting...

Things are starting to shake themselves out in the NACC.

1. (ARV) Wisconsin Lutheran (h) 16-1 (21-1)
2. Benedictine (i) 15-3 (19-4)
3. Lakeland (x) 14-4 (18-5)
3. Concordia Wisconsin (x) 14-4 (16-7)
5. Edgewood 11-7 (14-9)
6. Dominican (x) 11-8 (15-9)
7. MSOE 10-8 (12-11)
7. Aurora 10-8 (10-12)
9. Concordia Chicago (e) 7-11 (7-16)
10. Alverno (e) 5-13 (6-17)
11. Marian (e) 2-16 (2-21)
11. Rockford (e) 2-16 (2-21)
13. Illinois Tech (e) 0-18 (0-22)
(h) Clinched No. 1 seed in NACC Tournament; (x) Clinched NACC Tournament berth; (i) Ineligible for postseason play; (e) Eliminated from NACC Tournament contention

Wisconsin Lutheran is quietly having another outstanding season, only receiving their first top 25 vote in a while this week. With at Rockford, Alverno and Edgewood remaining, they have a magic number of 2 for an outright NACC regular season championship.

Behind them, Lakeland and Concordia Wisconsin will be the No. 2 and 3 seeds. The Muskies have IIT and Alverno at home, while the Falcons finish with Edgewood and at Benedictine. LU also has the tiebreaker.

Dominican clinched a berth with their win over Edgewood last night and their 5-0 head to head record against the other teams in that middle group. A win at Marian would give them the No. 4 seed and a first round home game unless EC wins both of its remaining games.

Edgewood has the toughest remaining schedule - they finish at CUW and then at WLC. One win would clinch a NACC Tournament berth, both would secure the No. 4 seed, but they could still get in even if they don't win either.

Finally, MSOE hosts Aurora on Wednesday in the game of the season for both teams. The tiebreaker possibilities are too numerous to list here, but if they haven't already, the winner can clinch a spot with a win on Saturday (MSOE has Marian at home, while Aurora is at Concordia Chicago), while the loser will need some help to get in.

NACC Tournament First Round
#6 MSOE 46
#3 Concordia Wisconsin 57

#5 Aurora 35
#4 Dominican 55

So it will be Lakeland vs. CUW and then WLC vs. Dominican in the semifinals on Friday. Each higher seed won both regular season meetings over their respective opponents, though both LU-CUW games went to OT while the Warriors' wins over the Stars were far more decisive.
