Multi-Regional Topics / Fall 2020 Basketball Plans
September 30, 2020, 01:05:00 PM

Under the current rules, tomorrow (Oct 1st) is the first day practice is allowed for fall sports.  Does anyone know of teams that are actually starting tomorrow or what teams might be planning to try and do anything in the rest of 2020?  We have conference plans pretty well publicized, but I'm curious what individuals schools are planning to do.

Multi-Regional Topics / Around the Nation

If you hadn't heard, I took over the Around the Nation column for D3hoops.com this year - the first one went up last night.

http://www.d3hoops.com/columns/around-the-nation/2016-17/passing-the-baton

We are hoping to leave the team feature stories to the various Around the Region writers and cover topics that are more general to d3 (across regions and gender).  I'm hoping to get feedback on the columns here, talk about possible topics, debate, whatever.

If you've got ideas or questions, this is a good place to do it (also in the actual comments section on the column).

The CUNYAC Championship game is tonight; I think that'll be the first team to qualify for this year's tournament.  It's time to get this thread going.

Multi-Regional Topics / 2014 NCAA Tournament
March 01, 2014, 11:18:31 PM

Is it appropriate to start this thread now that we've got a bunch of teams in already?

It looks like we're going to get our typical two pairs of orphans - the West Coast and Texas.

I'd like to think they'll bring everyone to Dallas, but they may choose to just send the winners of each pair to the bye teams.

Multi-Regional Topics / Hoopsville Invitational 2013

Any further info on the Hoopsville Tournament?  Like ticket prices?

I'm going to try and be there for the Sunday games, but I'd like to get down Friday as well, if I can swing it - might only be able to make the final game (St. Mary's and Cabrini).

Multi-Regional Topics / Regional Realignment
February 27, 2013, 07:26:29 AM

Pat posted the proposed realignment moves - http://www.d3sports.com/notables/2013/02/regional-realignment-coming - for men's basketball.

For the most part they make sense, but moving the WIAC to the Central region (I assume the renaming of Midwest to Central is part of it), doesn't that just create a logjam of top team in one region.  Competing for all-region just got harder.

So the championship game will be played on Sunday, April 7th in Atlanta - but there's no real plan or schedule for the rest of the tournament.

I like the exposure, but somehow this seems like a debacle waiting to happen.  Thoughts?

Multi-Regional Topics / Castleton 113 - Springfield 132
November 15, 2011, 09:37:58 PM

I hate to start a new thread for this, but I couldn't find the place where it might fit.

Castleton lost to Springfield tonight (opening night) 113-132.  Castleton took 102 shots, 63 of them from behind the arc.  They also committed 31 fouls (Springfield shot 46 FTs).

Is Castleton adopting some Grinnell-esque offense here?

Nobody played more than 22 minutes and Springfield shot above 60%.

The numbers don't quite look like a GC boxscore (very few steals), but there's something going on here.  This is a very fast-paced offense.  Perhaps this is more of a VMI modification?

Multi-Regional Topics / All Americans
March 01, 2006, 10:01:23 AM

Anyone know where I can get the list of Academic All-Americans?  I know CoSIDA will post them on the website and they have the women's up already.  The men's list should be posted today, but some people have it already.  Any leads as to where I can find it?
