But, before Selection Sunday, there are 4 games to play, starting wit St. Olaf.

What do we know about the Oles this season? Who are their leaders?

Offensively STO are about 55/45 run/pass, the Johnnies being about 30/70.  Statistically, they are a better run defense than pass defense but both aspects of defense trail far behind SJU's capabilities according to their national stats ranking.

Against BU, STO managed 192 yards of offense (83 run / 109 pass) while the Johnnies managed 459 (326/133).  Likewise, the BU offense managed 563 (263/300) against STO and 191 (98/93) against SJU.

The STO QB has a pass efficiency rating of 160, which isn't bad, but you would think the Johnnie rush will bring some heat.  Their leading rusher averages 107 a game, so is no slouch, but hasn't busted a long run against anyone but Luther.

I think STO will come to play and will play hard but they will be outmatched. We'll hope for solid execution, no penalties and no injuries.

At what point this Saturday does Gary have to call off the dogs? I would say 49-0 but we can't make an extra point kick so I'll say 45-0.

Just go for 2 every time and be legends. After all, 2>1 and it's certainly more than 1/4.
Any chance Brady who kicked the last one takes over the job?

Ha.  Yes, can't kick.  I reckon whoever can kick without the yips will get the gig.  Someone puts three in a row through and and he'll be golden.  I'm going for the last guy because I think VOJ said he was from Hawaii.  Aloha.

Sorry, I either missed or forgot the committee chair's admission.  (With Joe Germinerio at QB, Brockport was NOT an outlandish choice.  I'd say them vs. SJU would be a 'pick-em', with a slight nod to the Johnnies.)

Or, to put it in the terms the committee actually used: With an unbeaten record and a trip to the 2017 semifinals, Brockport was not an outlandish choice.

That's sure a high bar.

No way we go for two against the Oles. Can you imagine the outrage if we went up 16 or 24 to goose egg to start the game???
Next couple of weeks one of these kickers needs to find some confidence

Yes, I can imagine it. I demand it, please. It will be epic. Honestly, anyone who saw Saturdays game shouldn't blame you.

Big win this weekend, yes, but let's just take a step back and worry about the remainder of the regular season.  Concordia hung with UWW and always plays SJU tough.  STO can be scrappy.  Injuries happen.  Worry about Selection Sunday after the next 4 games have wrapped up.  SJU can only control how they play.  The rest will sort itself out.

Mount Union waltzes past winless Capital
QuoteALLIANCE — Mount Union scored touchdowns on seven of its first eight possessions and kicked six field goals the rest of the way on Saturday to waltz past winless Capital, 66-0, and remain undefeated and in first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

It all added to a happy, if not boring, Homecoming.

Hoping to spare the Crusaders another ultra-lopsided loss – it fell to John Carroll, 90-0, last week – Mount Union coach Vince Kehres elected to kick a field goal on a first down play with 5:35 remaining in the first half and his team on top, 48-0

Is this what it comes down to? Is having your opponent kick a FG on 1st down less embarassing to the losing team?  I guess it keeps the final score down a bit, and most outside observers just see the final score.  No disrepect at all to UMU and VK, just musing a bit here.

I agree. The Raiders used 6 quarterbacks. More people than we think (some who have never been to a game) would prefer we don't keep score. They do not understand that even youngsters know who is better even when you don't keep score, just musing like you.

Hey all, I had a great trip to KC!, Went to Q39, Stroud's and Joes (take-out) loved these places! Thank you for the suggestions! Had never had burnt ends before. They are my new favorite, yum! I was able to stream the 2nd half of the game on Saturday. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Tommie's up at half, however it didn't last long obviously. While I was happy to see the Toms hang around for 3 qtrs., the better team clearly won. I must say I am very impressed with the Jays. That is an outstanding football team. Dare I say it, but I think they have great chance to win it all! Erdmann lived up to his billing and the defense was way better than I anticipated. It's going to take a great team to beat them (along with an off day for Jays). Still lots of football to be played.

I even heard (in the media, not necessarily from someone I have a ton of respect for) some questions about whether it was right for St John's to score that last touchdown. I laughed when I heard that and thought that was ridiculous. Given what I have seen from Erdmann, I didn't feel great about stopping him on that 4th and 15, but hoped that if he did convert, it would be for a touchdown and put me out of my misery. Instead I got a stop and a defensive pass interference, just to compound my suffering.

Anybody know how they count attendance for something like Saturday's game?
Stadium capacity is 19,400 but announced attendance was 19,508. It was clear that every seat wasn't filled, although that could be related to wandering the concourse and other factors. Even still, I doubt everyone with a ticket showed up (especially the drunk Johnnies and Bennies, truly an embarrassment to those fine institutions of higher education, shame shame).
I don't imagine the players are factored into attendance? What about other sideline folks, trainers, media people?

I am getting ready to work an all day Special Olympics Bowling Tournament (ankle biters through high school). It will be an honor for me to pin even a fifth place ribbon on some youngster who is thrilled to have bowled a 17. I have been doing this for 18 years and so far we haven't banned anybody for bowling too high a score.  :)
