Does anyone remember Mike Yurcich playing football at Mount Union.  Oklahoma State recently hired him as offensive coordinator.

Yurcich graduated in 1999 from California (Pa) University where spent three seasons as the school's starting quarterback and was a two-year captain. Mike supposedly began his playing career at Mount Union.

I remember the name.  Apparently he didn't want to wait for Borchert to graduate.  Nice to see he had a great career somewhere else.

I remember him as well.  Played some his freshman year and then transferred out.  I believe he was part of one of those two quarterback rotations kind of like the killer "B's".

If my memory serves me correct, I believe that they were in the same class (both freshmen) when they dueled for the starting job which LK eventually gave to BB about mid-season.

Anyone have any news about potential recruits for the fall? From past years we do not see any lists, just word of mouth! :-\

I've got some earlier names and schools, but I haven't really researched positions etc.  They may have "signed" with Mount today, but as we all know there are no binding letters of intent in D3.  Nothing is final until they are on campus next fall, yada yada yada

Neal Eakins – Marian High School – Granger, IN
Logan Banks – Tallmadge
Alex Linzell – Westerville South
Gabe Whitman – Westerville South
Trae Jones – Westerville South
Luke Smith – St Clairsville
Malik Starks – Henry County – McDonough, GA
Louie Diaz – Hudsonville – Hudsonville, MI
Austin Monyak – Brunswick
Tanner Skelton – Crestview
Dakota Hill - New Philly
Cedric Gray – Toledo Central Catholic
Christian Sifford – Brecksvile-Broadview Heights
Mitch Doraty – Medina

Add Marshall McConnell of Milton High School in  Alpharetta, GA to Mount Union's list of recruits.   Defensive Tackle  Ht: 6-3 Wt: 255

I wonder if Mount will have some Florida recruits coming again for the fall? :-\

I would assume a dozen or so like every year, but that's K&J's dad's territory down there!  That's the only way I ever hear of any is from the FL newspaper links being posted here.

Small College Recruiting Fair is this weekend (Feb 16-17) in Tampa so more news will come after that.  Last year UMU, ONU, Hiedlelberg and Marietta were there from the OAC.

Since you're a golfer thought you may be interested in this.  SF booked two tee times yesterday at Spyglass Hill GC in Pebble Beach, CA for next Friday.  Pretty damn excited about it.. its going to be a blast.  SF is going to be in Monterey visiting some growers and customers next week and a customer suggested bringing the sticks with me.  Lyndsey is really excited for me -- and is allowing me to stay an extra day to do that.  I'm pretty lucky.

How goes it with JR's recruitment/school choices?  Are you guys coming down to Cincy for any football camps?  Let a brother know.

What kind of "growers" are you visiting in CA?  ;)

;D I always get sideways looks when I mention my "growers" -- fruit growers.  You can imagine what kinds of looks I get when I mention that I'm looking for a reefer (trailer with refrigeration unit) in CA.

SF!  That is pretty incredible news!  It has always been a dream of mine to play one of those courses there at PB, so I am happily envious.

On a golf note...I was in Maryland this week, and potentially landed an opportunity to play Congressional, so that was a GREAT business trip.

Jr.'s recruiting has somewhat hit a wall, simply because Jr. will have to decide WTH he wants to do.  He is leaning towards ROTC somewhere near DC, so he can intern with the government before he does his time in the service.  He is leaning towards ROTC Air Force, but at this point it's all up in the air.

He has been lifting seriously since the first of the year, and is up to 175.  HOWEVER, he is doing a team lifting thing tomorrow, and is hoping to be 170 or under so his lifts qualify that much higher.  Oh crap...it's 12:14 and I have to get him up at 6:30.

SF......I am still hoping we head that way, and I will talk to you before we do.  Also, Mrs. SSK wants to take a trip to Jungle Jim's sometime in the next few months, and that will be a trip that we would love to get together with you and the Mrs.

Have a blast out in CA!

Congressional ?!  That would be great.  Let me know how that goes.  And definitely let me know if you're coming down to Jungle Jim's.  The original JJ's is 5 minutes from where I grew up in Fairfield.  They also have a new one on the eastside of town in Clermont County (right off 275).

Last Friday Arizona Wildcats coach Rich Rodriguez hired former Mount Union free safety Matt Caponi to safeties coach.  Matt was a free safety at Mount from 2000 to 2003, going 55-1 and winning three national titles. He began his coaching career there as a student assistant in 2004, becoming the school's JV coordinator and linebackers coach a year later.
