Lycoming is MACC not MACF.

Dark Knight

Calvin didn't get to host, traveling down to Ohio Wesleyan for the pod there. Not sure if this is because of their 5th place in the 3rd regional ranking or because it was the women's turn to host (the Calvin women will be hosting a pod here in Grand Rapids).

I suspect it's the latter. Three of the teams ahead of Calvin in the regional ranking lost or tied in the last week, and the matchups in the pod suggest Calvin was the top seed of the four teams.

I like the pod. True, they have to get through their old nemesis Ohio Wesleyan if neither team is upset, but last year they tied at OWU, and this year Calvin is stronger than they were last year. And Ohio Wesleyan is weaker. Massey says Calvin 1.75 OWU 1.28, with Calvin's chance of winning 54% to OWU's 32%. Sounds about right to me.

Mr.Right

Thomas More at .525 and 1 ranked win is our geographical pick this year.

Plus a pretty poor track record when they have made the NCAA tournament in the past with only 1 win out of 7 games if I read the above chart correctly.

LGOTB, it looks like you got that list from D3soccer.com because that's precisely the info we give for each team on our Tournament Participants pages, but I couldn't find any reference to MACF / Freedom for Lycoming.  Was that a personal typo on your end?

It is.  I deleted commonwealth and input F by mistake...

Upset Special of the Tournament... Cabrini over Amherst.  Cabrini is organized and way under the radar... don't sleep on a potential PK game here...   Also, Lycoming is a definite dark horse (if you could even call them that given their ranking).

RPI makes selection committee look good again, by winning the title just like Tufts did last year hahaha.

CSS finally has a path that could maybe see them reach the Elite 8...

Chicago a potential sleeper as well...

And yes if Lycoming can survive the weekend they can give Amherst some fits. Time will tell as you can never predict what will happen come tournament time.

Which pod does everyone think is the toughest/weakest? Which perennial top 10 team does everyone think has the most difficult/easiest path to the final 4?

Top to bottom I would say MSU's pod is the toughest. I would not be surprised to see any of a handful of teams to make it out of there (MSU, Kenyon, Carnegie, OWU, F+M, Calvin, and even chicago, TMC or tufts)The amherst pod is the most top heavy IMO. Brandeis, Trinity, and Amherst could all make strong cases as the top team in the country, and I would not have been surprised if any of the three received a bye. On the other hand, the Loras pod appears to be the weakest. I would rank the pods: MSU, Amherst, Haverford, Loras in terms of strength.

I would say pretty much whatever team that makes it out of the MSU pod will have to face 3, if not 4 very difficult opponents. Trinity also has a very difficult path out, having to face texas-dallas, whitworth/redlands, a potential rematch against brandeis, and possibly amherst in the elite 8.

Toughest - Montclair St Pod
Weakest - Loras Pod
