Music and Tigers and Slop... oh my.....

Try cracking a beer open in that camp.... no thanks.   They will probably have guard towers at each corner.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Apparently reading and comprehension are still electives at that Crawfordsdingle Technical and Vocational College.

"A toast to Monon" - what the hell is that???  Why do the Dannies call it "Monon?"

It's the Monon Bell...

Funny you guys bailed on the annual Stag event.  Lame ass actually.

The "Monon Bell" is the trophy awarded to the victor of the annual college football match-up between DePauw University and Dabash Vocational School of Pond Maintenance. The trophy, "The Monon Bell", was added as an award to the winner of the match-up in 1932. As we know from the song, the match-up has been played, "Since eighteen-ninety they have played the last game ev'ry fall." To call the game "Monon Bell" would disregard those games played prior to 1932. To say to someone, "Happy Monon Bell" makes no sense, unless they were referring to the Trophy. Monon is appropriate.

Here we go with the "Stag" nonsense again. The "Stag" only drew interest from those Neanderthals still living in their mother's basement in the middle west part of Indiana, who had nothing better to do on a Friday night, and who lack a significant component of being able to socialize with or accept as equal a little over one half of the human race. Yes, a "Stag" party is an all male party. At Dabash, women occupy positions either of superiority or inferiority, not equality. At DePauw, everyone is welcome (even Caveboyzz). No one is excluded. Women are peers.

Your "Stag" party is an antiquated relic where women are excluded. Plus, who wants to hear a bunch of recycled Ohio State-Michigan/Minnesota–Wisconsin jokes with DePauw and Dabash substituted where needed. LAME. No thank you.

That's really just a weak excuse for why your half of rivalry withdrew from the event.  You can make it a gender equality issue and pretend to take some kind of imaginary social high road if you want, but it's really a football (in)equality issue.  DePauw has been so embarrassing in this game for long enough that they just didn't want to show up and pretend to have a conversation about how this year is going to be different (it won't be).

You all can turn a dudes' night out into an affront on civil rights if you want (it isn't), but we all know why you really stopped going to the event.  32-19, 47-0, 45-7, 23-0, 38-21, 27-3.  That's why.

It's more complicated than the recent scores.  Part of the problem is that the current DePauw AD could not attend.  And then another part is that a DPU alumnus made a disparaging public remark at the event about, well, something sensitive, and the DPU president (who is now the new president at Colgate), it is reported, withdrew support.  At least, that is what I've been told.  I hold the distinction of having been presented the "Spirit of the Monon Bell" award, proud of it.  But let's not get carried away, on either side, about that Stag event and reasons why it ended.
There are far more important reasons for us to snipe at one another.  WAF.
Bbear:   the weakness of your argument would have either been laughed out of a classroom at Wabash or been greeted with embarrassed silence.  By the way, the Stag dinner was on Thursday, not Friday.  And women at Wabash are treated with as much, or more, respect as women at DePauw, or anywhere else for that matter.  But I expect you won't believe that, or will make a disparaging comment to the contrary.  Maybe it's altitude sickness with you, or a Rocky Mountain High.  Same old, same old, year after year.

There are classrooms at Dabsah? Wow, times are a changing.

Congratulations on the award. I am sure you deserve it.

Thursday, Friday, Monday, I don't care. Were women allowed to attend the "Stag"? It is not within the spirit of a coed University if you prevent over 1/2 of your population from attending. I am sure the "women at Wabash (sp?)" feel respected when they can teach you, clean up after you and feed you, but can't go to class with you.

Thank you for expressing concern about my well-being, but I am doing just great. We breathe the freshest air and drink the cleanest water out here. It is always a natural Rocky Mountain High. And at altitude, all the bad stuff tends to fall to those below you. As the saying goes "^&*$ rolls down hill." How does your water taste?

5 more weeks.

Dear Football Alumni and Friends:

Our trip to Ohio this weekend ended with a BANG! as the field goal sailed through the uprights with 2.5 seconds left on the clock to give us a 31-29 victory over Denison. The win brings our record to 7-1 on the season and 6-1 in NCAC play.

This week we split on our four team metrics:

We won average starting field position by 9 yards.
We had one turnover and forced zero.
We had 2 less explosives plays.
We converted 21% more of our possession (3rd & 4th down) down opportunities.
Offensively, we totaled 436 yards of offense with 308 yards coming through the air and 128 yards on the ground. Junior QB Matt Hunt was 24-36 through the air for 2 touchdowns and added 75 yards on the ground. Sophomore RB Jack Gruber had 44 yards on the ground with a touchdown. Freshman WR Andy Hunt had 10 catches for 124 yards and a touchdown. Senior WR Connor Jeffers hauled in 5 catches for 61 yards and a touchdown. We were 50% converting possession downs over the course of the game and totaled 23 first downs.

Defensively, we allowed just 71 yards rushing and totaled 4 sacks. Senior LB Phil Ganser led the team with 13 total tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Junior CB Cody Baker added 10 tackles and Junior LB Will Longthorne tallied 9 tackles. Sophomore DT Chris Hawk, Sophomore DE Joel Kauth, and Freshman DE Nate Orrison each recorded at least 1 sack on the day.

We had a great day on special teams this week. Senior P Paul Simon punted just 3 times for a 38 yard average and a long of 52 yards. Junior K Marko Adams kicked 7 times with a 60-yard average and had 2 touchbacks. Marko was also 3 for 4 on field goals for the day, knocking through kicks from 49, 36, and the game winner from 42 yards out. Marko's 49 yarder was the longest by a DePauw player since Tom Downham's 54-yard school record in 1987.

This Saturday we return to the friendly confines of Blackstock stadium to take on the Oberlin College Yeoman. Oberlin is 3-5 on the season and is a much-improved team from last year. This will be another important North Coast Athletic Conference contest. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST.

It is also our Senior Day, where will be honoring the following players and their families before the game:

Kody Bontreger (Middlebury, IN) – Offensive Line, Captain
Joe Buckley (Oak Forest, IL) – Running Back
Matt Costakis (Indianapolis, IN) – Wide Receiver
Adam Folta (West Lafayette, IN) – Defensive Back
Dan Furman (Fort Wayne, IN) – Defensive Line
Amen Galley (West Lafayette, IN) – Running Back
Phil Ganser (Elmhurst, IL) – Linebacker
Hamm Hooper (St. Louis, MO) – Defensive Back
Michael Hornak (Indianapolis, IN) – Linebacker
AJ Houk (Fort Wayne, IN) – Wide Receiver
Connor Jeffers (Batesville, IN) – Wide Receiver
Tyler Leising (Oldenburg, IN) – Tight End

Look, I'm glad DePauw doesn't stink, but truthfully if you're doing cartwheels over beating Denison on a last second field goal, then you're probably not ready.

Baby steps though.  Good job.

I don't know, that optional weight training and non-required conditioning program at Debauch looks like its working for them. Just ask their starting QB, Matt Hunt. He said they did a whole 10 jumping jacks yesterday and it was the toughest workout of his life.....

GO WABASH...KILL DPU!!!!
