Cool list. Some great pictures as well, especially that Ivy League game in Manhattan Park.

I can imagine it was hard to differentiate Wittenberg, SJU, Whitewater, and Linfield. Unlike most of these lists the scoring metric doesn't appear to have a recency bias, which is good.

This list validates UST putting all their chips into D1 after their hand was forced, as quickly as possible. One D2 team made the list, and a heavy portion of the criteria for them making it was their time in NAIA. D2 is a an afterthought

There were historical D2 teams on the list, some just aren't there currently. NDSU didn't win all those titles as an FCS school

Jim Souhan's perspective on how the Tom$ should handle things during their last two seasons in the MIAC. I'm beginning to believe that U$T had every every intention of moving up and orchestrated a large part of this drama in order to garner the sympathy of donors and the NCAA and thus have an excuse of being the victim.

I think it's a little overblown to put such a big emphasis on how UST isn't up to snuff on facilities when you do a legitimate comparison, top-to-bottom, of the conferences I just mentioned. There is some tweaking to do, sure, but UST wouldn't be even close to the worst.

Agreed - UST isn't out of line with UMD - they (UMD) actually have a smaller seating capacity, and have still managed to be a national power in division 2.

It's interesting to me that you said that WIAC is plan C?  I'm a bit surprised to hear that.  I'd have guessed they'd prefer staying D3 over going to D2. (assuming D1 is plan A).

From what I hear, it's plan C because it's not a viable long-term solution and it's not upwardly mobile. Since their hand was forced I think the motto is onward and upward.

They did not have their hand forced, they ensured that their hand was forced.

Yes. I forgot about the necessity to arbitrarily enforce non-existent rules. My bad.

Their moves across he board the last several years suggest otherwise, making this a football discussion is rather anal

I'm not that bothered by this...there's got to be significant expenses by the University especially for the home opener, homecoming and Johnnie / Tommie games (trash, porta-potties, security, etc...
I also observed a fair amount of underaged consumption last year before the U$T game (by both college and even a high school kid or two that I recognized). This must also be an attempt to temper some of that behavior. I'll just keep carrying in a couple Hamm's in a small backpack and find a cooler to put them in. I'm sure the tailgate pass will impact the number of people and cars in the lot but resourceful people will no doubt find a way around it by combining their tailgate efforts!

Don't forget all the prime grazing land SJ2 cedes to tailgaters on game day. That can't be good for SJ2-CSB relations...

Yeah, I am fine with it, too.  It only affects the "tailgate lot", and anyone who's been there know what a cluster that is.  There were people parking there for days before the U$T game last year.
