WTF BRockport - Overtime    :o

Nice to see full gyms at both Plattsburgh and Brockport.

Brockport announcers are so bad....   :'(

hmmm,  gonna be an interesting potential matchup in the Womans field in Bowdoin if both SUNY Plattsburgh and Bowdoin win their first games.  Marle Curle (daughter of Tom Curle - coach at Plattsburgh) plays a significant role on the Bowdoin squad.   I remember cheering with the team bus driver,Mrs, Curle and Marle at St John Fisher when Anthony Williams hit the "buzzard" beater to shut up the University of Rochester loud mouths.

I'm more concerned about losing a 19 point lead than someone calling a Time-Out we didn't have. There was still 2.5 seconds left and there was a shot taken that hit the rim. Wasn't there a bad pass to allow Brockport to Tie the score on the previous possession ? There was a 5 second call on another late possession and Brockport scored on the ensueing possession.  Watched the game on the internet and there were too many mistakes from 15 minute mark of the 2nd half to the end.   I hope Manning doesn't let this ruin his career (which isn't over yet).

Good Luck to both team if the NCAA does the right thing.  Always pull for the SUNYAC in the playoffs no matter who makes it.

"... Potsdam living in the past. Potsdam Maxcy Hall.  Plattsburgh Memorial Hall.  The difference is a coach that recruits winning players then teaches them how to be winners...."

No more Jerry Welsh handing out FREE NCAA Final four t-shirts, jackets and hats out of the trunk of his car in the parking lot probably hurts recruiting in some cases.     :P   just saying

If I had a son, no doubt in my mind Tom Curle would be tops on the list followed closely by Mike Neer of Hobart.

Memorial Hall has character and the Field house (floor) was/is a terrible venue.   Larry Parker's ankle injury (tripped up by "the bubble" ) changed everything in the 1975-76 season.  WE won every home game after the move that season.

I think I need to drive down to Cortland and make some noise and cheer for the winners from the North Country  ;D

Oswego's Sean Michele hits a triple at the buzzer to give the Lakers the win at 58-55. Whewwww!!! ::)

Wells put on man-2-man and 2-2-1 zone press most of the game.  Either full court or 2/3 court after foul shots or made baskets.  Oswego had some problems getting ball across half line
NBA + range - all net...   on a broken play with 0:00.5 or something left (at the release).

Fredonia looked pretty good vs Ithaca also.

The ONLY thing Plattsburgh didn't execute was the box out on the 2nd foul shot (missed) by DiBartolomeo at the 15 seconds to go mark.  That foul call was bogus, as was the 5th foul on Shaver Fields.   Not sure what Curle said but the Zebra's called him for a Bench Tech.   A perfectly fine officiated game was ruined in the last 20 seconds.   Plattsburgh held it's own against larger players at each position.  DiBarolomeo didn't do much until the 2nd half.  U of R bigs aren't fast, don't jump high but they know how to work the paint and bang bodies. They also run their plays well and box out effectively.

"...Reportedly no one rooting for Plattsburgh was allowed to sit behind the Brandeis bench? Someone stated that it was an NCAA rule? Who knew..."

IF you were sitting behind the Plattsburgh bench near a guy with a red polo shirt on that was me.
I only said what the NCAA Regional Committee Chairman told me, and repeated by Scott the softball coach at Plattsburgh who was facilities mgr.     If they stopped selling tickets and had as many unsold tickets as empty seats in the gym, that was terrible. This was the smallest crowd in the past three weeks in that gym. Considering the baseball team (25+) had already left for games, and it was break time, the student section was pretty good (and loud).    The NCAA has some funky odd ball rules for these tournaments.

One final comment about officials.  I know and respect that doing that job is difficult under any circumstances, but if any of you officials "lurk" on these boards, please understand something.  You are their to officiate NOT to insert yourselves and you bias into the game.  To the few who payed more attention to the crowd than the game for the past couple of weeks during Plattsburgh games.  Get over yourselves.   If you don't like the comments, do your job better, learn to get position or admit you missed a call.  Don't "make up" or "guess" what happened. To the extremely biased MR, R who used to actually PLAY  ??? one time at LeMoyne;  you have got to be the most laughable excuse for a fair minded person I have ever witnessed.  IF you have a problem with people who don't look like you, then you seriously need to find a new profession.  It's pretty sad when you take out your hangups on 18-21 year old young men.  Your smarmy attitude makes the job more difficult for the others in your profession who actually try to do a fair minded job.

I am talking about 3-4 officials out of about 24 different ones.

Brandeis IS the best team Plattsburgh played.

Including U of R.

However, Plattsburgh could have played better and was close up to the Foul-a-thon at the end of the game.

#1 (forgot his name) was the difference.  He hit 3pts, drove to the hoop, dished off for assits and was the best player on the court most of the game. Their leading scorer basically hit key 3pts when necessary, usually off good passed from #1.    Good Luck Brandeis, they may destroy Amherst.  For being the #1 ranked team, Amherst had all it wanted to get from The Stockton team.  Stockton spotted them 17 points at the start of the game on 5-5 from the 3pt area.  When Stockton started playing defense they held their own.

Good luck to all of the senior players on all the teams who are eliminated.  May you all graduate and become great citizens, leaders and family men in your future.   Lots of quality sportsmen in division III.

Two Thumbs up to the Plattsbugh St baseball team for coming and leading the crowd at all of the
mens basketball games the past couple of weeks.   I think almost the whole team sits together (in red)
and stands the whole game.  Very vocal, lots of spirit and nobody gets out of hand.

Expect me to do the same when your team visits my area or I get up to Plattsburgh again.

Coach Doorey, you need to stick to baseball, you would not make a good basketball ref  ;D

Billy Davis wins the "Wild Thing" award for being the wacky bull pen ace.
He is a decorated in red and white at basketball games similar to Mel Gibson in Brave Heart.
The team thanks you for your courage and support, Billy.   ;)

"...but will need 2 tickets to see both games on Friday as the gym will be cleared after the 1st game..."

Oh yeah, that will work :).
