Looks like it's time to starting talking CC football 2017.  Preseson Poll is out ... Blue Jays #1.  They lost a ton, surprised it wasn't closer, although Mules lost maybe best QB in league history.  Top five might be interchangeable this year.  Should be a great season.

Checking in as we roll towards the start of the season.  Looking at the great teams since 1999 poll system was cool.  NIce work guys ... some great teams in the south that couldn't quite win it (MU & WW in the way for the most part).

How about a look at the top south programs since the poll systm started.  Not a ranking, but here are ones to consider:

Wesley
UMHB
Trinity
W&J
Thomas More
Muhlenberg
Johns Hopkins
Hampden-Sydney

I'm sure I'm missing some obvious ones to consider.  There were some very good Bridgewater and W. Maryland/McDaniel teams early in this era for instance, but were they good long enough since 99 to be included?

Pretty impressive ... 10 JHu players on academic all district team.  Cant be many - if any - with more.

Getting close now ... CC held its annual media day and Hopkins grabbed the top spot in the preseason coaches/sids poll.

Might be too many players to replace at JHU ... mules, with always great defense and great young QB, probably team to beat.  They also get Hop at home ... and Hop goes too Muhlenberg, Ursinus & F&M - tough road trips this year for Jays.

Two Blue Jays earned NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships recently.  Congratulations to Arena and Bonaddio.  Can't imagine there's a better combination of academics and football anywhere in Division III right now than at Hopkins.

The JHU faithful will take control of the lot at the US Lacrosse HOF.  However, I'd suggest you get to campus around 9/9:30 am and park in the small lot at the corner of Univ. Parkway and San Martin Drive.  There is a covered area under the building there (it's ground level) and an area that is out in the open on a small wooded lot.  They will charge you to park there, but it's no more than 100 yards from that lot to the field so you can stay and "partake" until 11:45 am and be in by kickoff!

This is a great spot, and will provide plenty of room for tailgating (and some cover if we get showers)

Safe travls to Baltimore.

There's plenty of parking off San Martin Drive. Looks like they posted some info. on tickets, directions, parking, etc. yestrday - The lot right near the Lax HOF is where the JHU parents tailgate will roll.

Nice story in today's Philly Inquirer about Eagles coach Chip Kelly and his year as def. coordinator at Hopkins:

Hopkins has posted their season preview.  Only includes returning players so may have been written before practice started.  Not many spots for newcomers to find time at JHU this year, but guessing at least a few will see some time.   Especially on spec. teams.

I hear you on the 'berg.  With apparently 20 voters and only two points betwen UC and MC, that's probably one extra person putting Bears in front.  UC does have Curran back, but really UC/MC is a tie for 3rd in my mind.  F&M beat hopkins last year, could have beat them year before and has Schneider back.  No question Dips are deserving of #2.

Great media event hosted by Commish today.  Hopkins virtually unanimous pick at the top of the preseason poll:

2013 Centennial Conference Preseason Poll
Rk. School - Points (1st-Place Votes)
1. Johns Hopkins - 161 (17)
2. Franklin & Marshall - 139 (3)
3. Ursinus - 122
4. Muhlenberg - 120
5. Gettysburg - 98
6. Susquehanna - 86
7. Juniata - 57
8. Dickinson - 54
9. Moravian - 39
10. McDaniel - 24

Check out video of all the coaches talking about their teams on the CC's new video portal - http://www.centennialconference.tv/

Thoughts on poll?  Season?  Most coaches said their teams report middle of next week.

The preseason pubs are out and Johns Hopkins is ranked in the top 10 in Sporting News and Lindy's rankings.  Jenifer (OL/T) and Cranston (OL/C) also earned preseason AA nods.

Congrats to Florida Gulf Coast University and Eagles' head coach Andy Enfield, a 1991 Johns Hopkins graduate, on their win over second-seeded Georgetown tonight.  Enfield is the all-time leading scorer in JHU history with more than 2,000 career points and is one of the great all-time free throw shooters in NCAA history (.925).  Enfield has been at FGCU for two years after serving as an assistant at Florida State.
