Messages - Trenches

#1
Quaker/pride 4th:
- 3 plays in, muffed snap gives pride the ball.
- quake FG attempt, botched snap. Just under 7 to play
- pride continue with dropped passes.
- 69 yd punt for pride to quake 3.

Had to leave with just under 3 left. Quaker punting away from own 24. Quake up 27-0

#2
Quaker/pride 3rd:
- pretty quiet start. Pride complete a few passes but can't put anything together.
- quakers score on a 42(ish) yd pass to flat that shoots down the sideline. (21-0 with 5:40 in 3rd)
- 4th down stop by quake
- next play... quake finally look down field and connect on a 40 yd score following a double pump (27-0) 4:24 remains in the third.
- another deflected pass batted up. This time guilford finally comes down with it for the int at the pride 41. Just over 4min in 3rd.
-quake to start 4th inside pride 25

Quake D continues LOS pressure. D is getting to the ball a lot better to start the year.
Couple of the pride WRs look nervous trying to catch the ball; trying to run before posession and dropping passes.
#3
Quake/pride 2nd:
- sideline official went down with a seizure. Carted off. Keep him in your prayers.
- pride blocks quake punt, muffs scoop, quake recovers at about LOS.
- Quake score on a 2 yd run w/ just under 7 min in half (7-0)
- Quake score on a 50+ yd pass (15 yd pass over middle and broke away) after big defensive stop (14-0 quake)

Coach R's D all over the pride. Lots of stops at/behind LOS. I believe the pride only have 1 1st and have yet to cross the quake 50 (touched the 50 with 1 min left only to punt).
Guilford showing a lot more discipline so far.

Been a while...
Out at the GC/GC game... Guilford has been in complete control through one. 3 drives got deep in pride territory. Couple penalties and a missed FG has it 0-0 at the end of the 1st. The pride have yet to get onto the quakers end of the field.

Hey all...No Gossip Here...Just an an observation...I think that I saw where Guilford had listed some of their new commits (recruits). I was glad to see this. Hearing about incoming prospects is good for the fans and good for the prospects. Also, it gives us something to talk about, while waiting on camp in August.!! I don't have details, but I understand that the Waspers have a good class coming in. There seems to be alot of emphasis on the O-line. Why don't we hear more about recruiting in the ODAC?
Guilford's had 21 commitments ... I'll add a link later in the day.

Thanks for that hasa. I havent been on campus in a while... fun to watch it as it moves along.

Great to see some dorms (looks to be dorms anyway) going up back there as well. Should create a different atmosphere at games.

Any word or a new field house? Rumors have circulated for years but I talked with someone a couple months back that mentioned the idea resurfacing.

llamaguy, et al, who's making the trip to Guilford this weekend?  I'm getting hungry already.  lol   Let me know if you need a good spot for Stone Station and I'll see what I can do to help again this year.
The plan is to come as far as I know.  I know that I am coming with brownies.  As I have been under the weather this week, I had my friend, Claudja, the baker, make them for me and they are wonderful!!  So when the Alumni bus pulls in, I'll be there!  Llamaguy had said that he was coming.  But that was before the trip to Mexico.  I can't imagine that we won't be there and hope there is a place for us.  Can't wait to see the improvements to the stadium.  Could you let me know about the weather.  I'm going to PM u my cell phone # so you can give me a call and let me know cause I think I have to go back to bed  :( :( so I can be better for tomorrow.  Just hope that my boys will play a whole game instead of just a quarter or just a half.  That's how it's been so far!  Will send PM now. :) :)  Hope the gCV OLiners will be there as well.  Haven't seen any messages from them this year, but always hopeful!!!

Haven't been on here much this season (at least to post).. I'm not sure if I am going to be able to make it or not yet (work). If I don't get a chance, good luck to the quakers and get the job done at home. If I do get to go, I will be looking for the BC crew and the famous olinemom brownies.

Just got in from the 21-17 Guilford win.

  Few notes.... crazy game.
- 14-7 E&H at the half... GC D played well all game and only lets up 3 in the second half
- E&H played great on D for the most part. Nice coverage and pass rush.
- Officiating was all over the place. Alot of bad calls... 2-3 obvious missed pass interference calls, fumble at the goal line (looked like he crossed before the fumble from where I was sitting but could be wrong)?
- Bizarre play of the day...I know a few people noticed this but I don't know if everyone did... but E&H had 4 second half timeouts. After using one mid third quarter, they used one with 3 seconds left in the third to stop the clock as GC ran back out on the field to try to run a play as E&H was walking off... E&H ran out, tried to line up, and 4+ players jumped calling/signaling time out to stop the clock. They were given the time out, but it was never charged to them... then everyone comes out, the clock starts up (before the snap) and the game clock runs out before the snap ever occurs!!
End third quarter... timeout given but not charged and then play starts without a snap and everyone is at a loss. After that E&H calls two more timeouts (The final one with less then a minute left that almost turned out to be a huge "phantom timeout" situation).
- Fight broke out on second to last play of the game. Added some fire works to the game.

I'm sorry I will not be able to attend tomorrow's game with the Generals, even though I bought season tickets.  Life comes at you fast.  lol  It's the 21st meeting and the series is tied at 10-10.  Unfortunately, the students are on fall break, so the crowd may be down a bit, but I still expect a good turnout.  Wish I could be there!  Hopefully, Vogelbach and the rest of the team will be back in stride after last week's less than stellar effort.  Go Quakers!

While we're on the subject of why I can't come tomorrow, I have a few words of wisdom for the groom, who is my girlfriend's coworker.  Sure, your team may have a bye tomorrow, but mine doesn't.  I would have serious reservations about getting married to someone who suggested an October wedding, on a Saturday ... at 1 pm.  Dude, what are you thinking?  There were so many other viable options!   We are now reviewing your "man card" status.  lol  :)

unfortunately I won't be able to make it either.  :( Have training all day for a new job. Good luck to the quakers though. Get it back on track fellas.

P.S. #16 will be in attendance.  ;)

P.S. stands for Packers Suck!!  :D

Have fun tailgating...remind Olinemom about sending brownies on the 27th. If you run into a guy named Bradshaw, tell him he sucks for not being down here watching his little brother catch TD passes!! :D :D

Haha.. yeah big game for them. I think they beat the skins at home. Now the vikes in Chi-town is a different story. I think they can... but childress MUST go to Peterson more.  >:(

As for the rest, I'll do my best to remind her and keep an eye out for him.  :)

There's a 99.95% chance I will be at BC tomorrow... working late into the night tonight but still looking to make the trip tomorrow. Not sure what time stone station will be set up, but I am looking to get in around 11:30-12. I know y'all will be set up long before that.
Do you guys set up right at the field? Looking forward to the greatest Tailgate in D3!! I told my girlfriend all about llama's grill and olinemom's brownies. She'll be in for a treat.  ;D

P.S. #16 will be in attendance.  ;)

Wouldn't Washington and Lee be the favorite tomorrow, given that they were ranked #2 in the preseason poll, while the Tigers were ranked #5?

I'm wondering where the pick'em is located.  I can't find it.

I think the current odds would have HSC as a favorite... Perhaps by 3.5 pts if it were vegas.

As for the pick 'em... here's the link...
http://www.d3sports.com/post/index.php?topic=3704.1380

My picks this week are even more make 'em or break 'em then I was hoping for!! I'm going full board (minus capital) against the odds! LET'S GO QUAKE, JACKETS, AND GENERALS!!  ;D

WHAT???

You mean Vegas does NOT have odds on ODAC games?

Unbelievable. ;D

Shocking right? I mean if you can bet on who is going to win american idol, why not a D3 football game?? Someone better get their act together or that town will never amount to anything.

Got a poll for you... kinda late at this point... but I'd like to hear thoughts...

Which of this week's games will feature the 2007 ODAC Champ?
- GC v BC
- W&L v HSC
- E&H v RMC

As each team is still in it, votes could be very split here.
