Women's soccer / Re: Coaching changes for 2022

Oz Bakiirdan was hired at IWU.  He is a former men's junior college coach.  He has already been reaching out to players and recruits.

Is there any news of any open positions being filled? On the NCAA Jobs website, there are still some listed but some that are open are no longer listed.

I'm curious about what is going on at Illinois Wesleyan. There still has not been an announcement and the position has been open for more than two months now. I'm sure that they want to get this right after a disappointing hire was followed by an excellent hire that left for a better opportunity.

If anyone has news on any hires or movements, post it here.

I did notice on one of Simple Coach's youtube videos that he mentioned Lance Key, now the HC at Hardin-Simmons, was at Louisville as the HC. Note that he was from Louisiana Lafayette if you're reading this, Simple Coach.

Ian Wilson, former assistant at Illinois Wesleyan, was hired as the Carthage women's coach:

This is a great hire for Carthage.

Is there an update on Thomas More, Wesleyan(GA), or Carthage?  Haven't heard much chatter on any of these openings.

All sources indicate IWU to announce today.

It seems that their process was delayed because of IWU's spring break and the team's overseas trip.  Sources indicate that IWU had candidates on this week and are hoping to make an announcement soon.

Many candidates were eliminated weeks ago! They have their decision, but my guess for delaying the announcement is for budget reasons. Just a guess, so don't come at me too hard.

I've been told that the announcement was delayed because IWU's choice turned them down and took a job at Calvin, her alma mater:

So, are they back to square one?

From what I have heard on campus interviews for Illinois Wesleyan should wrap up this week.  Have not heard much on who the candidates are . Reached out to a couple coaching contacts and no one has heard anything.  Not really sure what to think.

Is there any word on who the Illinois Wesleyan coach might be? It's going into the 5th week of being open. I would think that the candidate list has been narrowed and interviews are going on.

Noticed Concordia College and Lawrence University are now open.

I talked to a few coach friends who were at recruiting events yesterday.  The conversation about  IWU was all the rage.  A few felt bad for the IWU assistants who were bombarded or were being talked around.  I was told there was a lot of speculation of who may apply.

After looking at this year's bracket.  Which first round match ups caught your eye?  These match ups have caught my eye:
UW-Whitewater vs Hope
Stevens vs. Brandeis
MHB vs. Trinity
Illinois Wesleyan vs. Centre

UW Platteville opened, but it looks like they named the assistant Interim Head Coach.

Franklin is doing on campus this week. Former Ripon head coach is now an assistant at Indiana State University (D1).  If Pitt Bradford is open again that is twice in two years that they are going in June to make a hire.  Last year it opened in April and didnt plan on doing interviews until June.  Not sure what is happening there.

From talking with some assistants who were "in the running" for some of the positions it seems to be that the intent for the vast majority of programs was/is to hire a woman.  Regardless of credentials of some of the male candidates in the in the pool a woman will get the hire.  Not saying it is right or wrong (not my place), I just feel bad for some very deserving assistants.  Especially when some of the hires have little to no DIII experience or haven't "proven themselves." Time will tell i guess.

UNE hires Carly Gettler....assistant at Randolph-Macon and former HC at Husson, where she was average. A male coach had very little chance at getting this job, let's face it.

Rumor has it administration may have been the reason for the vacancy and they probably will not be willing to pay.

That is a real surprise about the Thomas More opening. I wonder if the administration will be willing to pay for an established coach.

Trinity men are hosting

Trinity (TX)'s reward for an undefeated regular season is a plane trip to Illinois Wesleyan (where they will play Mount Union in first round).   Yay NCAA.
