Lets get things started with the latest regional polls!!!!

Muskingum and Trine being ranked are no surprises. Muskingum's been great at least the last 3 seasons and Trine took the MIAA tourney a couple of years back before they were eligible to go to the D3 tournament.

As far as WIAC goes, just look at the success UW-Whitewater, UW-Eau Claire and UW-Oshkosh have had, as well.

Lakeland and Aurora (both Northern Athletics Conference) are ranked in their region as well. My question is --will the Muskies have to win out and win their conference tournament to stay that way? :-X :-\  Aurora made the D3 tournament last year, going 2-2 and losing to UW-Oshkosh twice after knocking Simpson and one other team out.

WLCALUM83,

Got your message, Thanks.  Perhaps general discusssions first and then, if enough interest go to Conferences as we have in D3 baseball. Just my thoughts

WIAC Conference , as in baseball, has a great history in D3 softball.  Was proud of my Warriors, when they beat UWW early in the season, however, then got thumped in a second game with UWW.

Tuft (undefeated),seams to really be the team to beat in the east, and perhaps nationally, with Coast Guard and RI College strong.  ECSU is competitive, and has a tremendous freshman Molly Rathbun, a quote from the ECSU/U Southern Maine game:

"The win is the 14th in 16 games up north for Eastern (20-6, 7-1 little east), ranked second in the NCAA Division III New England region. The Warriors  trail only defending conference champion Rhode Island College (7-0-1) in the LEC standings. The Anchorwomen, ranked fourth in New England, swept visiting Plymouth State University Saturday.

The Warriors have won at least 20 games for four straight seasons and in five of the last six years

Ranked among the national leaders in hits per game, ERA and strikeouts, Rathbun recorded 15 of 21 outs via the strikeout in the first game. She struck out the side in the first and second innings and retired  two batters on strikes in each of the ensuring four innings. Only two Southern Maine (5-27, 3-7 little east) batters reached base, both on hits"

Linfield and St. Thomas-MN are no strangers to D3 softball national finals action. If memory serves correctly, Linfield took it all in '07 and St. Thomas lost to Rutgers-Camden in the finals in '06.
