Osh,  Ryan Cavan actually started at Trinity, Tx. where he was all SCAC 1st Team as a freshman.  Then transferred to Chapman, then to UCSB.
Terrific player.
Yeah, just to make it cleaner, I made a choice on which D3 school to attach to Cavan. Thinking about it now, it doesn't make sense. Good call.

Maybe it's been mentioned before, but is there a direct link between TU and UCSB? Summer coaches or something? Or is it a coincidence that Huggins and Cavan ended up at UCSB?

Chuck and Ryan went to high school together and are good friends.
Chuck transferred to UCSB for reasons unrelated to baseball and academics.  In fact, he  goes to San Antonio each January to get ready for Spring Training.  He transferred to UCSB sight unseen and made it as a walk on.   Ryan, in addition to being a terrific player, loves to surf and there isn't a lot of that in San Antonio.

...unless he is pretty good at riding a wave board behind the boats on the San Antonio River.   :D   ;)

Baseball America throws D3 a bone. Heisey was named the No. 14 top prospect in the Southern League.

OshDude

Heisey made the Top 20 prospect list in his "other" league, too. This time he was tabbed No. 20 in the International League.

This... is a simple game. You throw the ball. You hit the ball. You catch the ball.  "There are three types of baseball players: those who make things happen, those who watch it happen, and those who wonder what happened."

The Brewers released former Chapman OF Mike Vass.

Through 12 games in the AFL, Messiah's Chris Heisey has a rather studly 1.244 OPS and .473 AVG with 10 XBH, 13 runs and 10 RBI. That'll do...

The Royals signed MiLB free agent and former St. Norbert SS Adam Frost. Frost was playing for Winnepeg in the Northern League, where he was named Rookie of the Year this season. Baseball America recently named Frost the No. 2 prospect in independent baseball.

Read the Northern League release for more.

The master list has been updated.

The Phillies granted former UW Oshkosh P Jack Taschner free agency.

He'd make a nice addition to the Brewers bullpen if he wants to come home.
Baseball is not a game that builds character, it is a game that reveals it.

The Astros outrighted former Concordia (MN) C Chris Coste to Triple-A Round Rock.

EDIT: Check that. Coste refused his assignment and is now a free agent.

Saw some AFL stuff and read Stephen Strasburg "showed an effective 91 mph changeup with good sinking action." A 91-mph change ... lol.
